I noticed recently that the regular, full-size Gen3 frame design has been updated to be more like the RTF2 & Gen4. That is... no finger opening at the bottom of the front strap & the bumps between the finger grooves have been de-emphasized. Much better, I think.

I doubt that Glock would spend time & money reworking the Gen3 frame if it planned to drop the line any time soon.

(This is not an anti-Gen4 post - OK?)

Considering Glock has the 38 million people in California to worry about, I doubt they'll be going away soon.

Maybe not "soon" but... Eventually I can't see Glock continuing making Gen 3's just for the civilian CA market. Would be more cost effective to just get Gen 4's CA compliant.

I don't know. They're already making Gen3's and Gen4's. If they have to change the design and manufacturing process, that will probably cost a lot more than just keeping production as is. Besides, I don't want to see a Glock that looks like a Ruger any time soon with safety billboards, gargantuan loaded indicator and only fireable with a mag inserted.

+1. I've never heard of a change to gen3 frames. gen3 is either rtf2 or not.

Now you have. As I said, it's an update of the original Gen3 frame.

I do not have time to take shots of my new G34 right now, but will do it later. In the meantime, anyone who does not believe me is free to check it out somewhere else.

Any idea when this change was made?

I'm not sure I would take this as an indicator that Gen 3s will go on for years and years. Anyway, if you're talking a G34 it may be years before the Gen 4 is even available in that. Was this change made to other Gen 3 frames?

Don't forget most Glocks you see on tv and movies are Gen 3, I have seen some Gen 2 though.

Sig Arms has 19 versions of the P226 alone.

I think glock can handle two versions for a while.

Sig actually has even more since they still make the 226 SSS in 9 and 40 for CA but it's out of catalog for everywhere else.

Glock started that with some of the guns about the first of 2009.

    Here's a shot of my new G34, PTW series, test fired 8/10. It's not a USA-made frame.

Just thought it might be a possibility, That looks just like mine except mine has the front cut out. I put peirce mag plates on all my full sized mags so when it's incerted it fills the cut out and you cant feel it. That is the first full sized frame I have ever seen without the notch. Pretty cool but looks kind-a weird because I'm not used to seeing that on a Glock. I have 14 Gen 3's and not even remotely interested in the 4's. I wonder why they filled that in ...:dunno:

The G20 & G21 have had no cutout for some time now, but I had not personally seen it on standard-frame guns until the RTF2, then the Gen4 & now on a couple of G34's in my town.
