It seems like even the least expensive places the gen 4 19 is at least $100 more expensive than the gen 3. Is it worth the extra money. This is going to be my plinker/car gun.

Honestly only you can decide this. In my area gen 4 guns cost $50 more then a gen 3. An extra $100 seems steep to me. With the gen 4 19 you get an extra mag, modular backstraps, rougher texture and double captive RSA. Try to shoot both then decide. At least handle both of them and see what one you like best.

My LGS sells them $20 more then the Gen 3s.

    Gen 3 $499

    Gen 4 $519

Your gun shop is ripping you off...........

that's the prices my decent sized shops are selling for also. I wouldn't pay an extra $100 on a gen4

$100 mark up? I would write them a letter explaining how you will never, ever, ever shop there again.

It is $50 here and I get that. Prices go up, you are getting an extra mag, "newer technology".

    In my opinion, no.

Since my Gen 3s fit my hand perfectly, I dont have a need for a Gen 4, but that may not be the case for you.

If the Gen 4 is something you must have, either for its fit or because its the newest design, well, that's something that no one else here can answer for you.

Locally, their 50 bucks difference. Imo the bigger magazine release is worth it alone lol. Throw in the extra magazine and adjustable back straps and the deal is sealed.

    +1

    ..BUT..

when we went looking for a CCW weapon for my wife, she shot every Gen 3 frame size (full, compact, subcompact) and was just not comfortable with the grip, but when we looked at a Gen 4 G26 without any of the additional back straps, she proptly said "This is it!", and yes it was an additional $50.00, worth it for her (and my) piece of mind.

If you shop around, it should not cost that much more than a new or used comparable gen3. The only thing it adds is a different grip style and choice of mag release side.

Be sure that you are comparing apples to apples in your shopping (night sights and compensators will add to the cost). Add internet sources for your shopping to save on sales tax.

I have both, I would not pay "more" for one or the other. I did also buy my Gen4 used for a reasonable market price of $469 shipped a year ago-- and it looked new when I got it.

Given the volume of internet chatter on the Gen4, one would think that there'd be alot for cheap on the used market. But, guess what?:crying:

I would assume the $398.20 are the Blue Label LE guns. That price is set to the penny by Glock for the LE Glock dealers.

Ah hell I forgot about that, but I'd think same price for the two Gens would transfer over to the commercial.

Nope, same price to the penny. Here's the local shops link if you'd like to compare and try to get a better deal from somebody.

I just found the price list. When I call the gun shop up in Knoxville about GSSF prices they told me Gen 4's were higher because of the extra mag. I think I'll call them back tomorrow with the new info I have now..
