Has to be the most frustrating experience. I'll know it when I see it but I haven't yet.

    Not enough pockets.

    Poor quality.

    Too heavy.

    Cheap zippers.

Why do manufacturers make the interior of the pockets and compartments black? You can't find anything in there.

Am I the only moron who has to travel with 2 laptops?

I'm actually looking for two bags:

    1. Small, slim shoulder bag. I need to be able to put a MacBook Air 11 and an iPad in it with a couple files. No bigger.

    2. Backpack with laptop compartment and, ideally, a tablet sleeve too.

If you have one you love post up please. Price isn't primary concern.

I've had good luck with the Tumi line. Pretty conservative looking, but they are built well. I like the nylon better than the leather for when I travel.

    The Empire Builder http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/PROD/300/TB0730

Made in America from US sourced materials when possible. Grey interior (or check out the blue one with the Wasabi interior).

I've had mine for two years and it still looks like new. It even kept all my stuff safe when I literally got caught in a tornado. My bag was on the floor next to the wall of an aircraft hangar. The rain was coming in the bottom of the building and everything there was ruined...except what was in my Tom Bihn bag.

If you don't need one as big try the Zephyr: http://www.tombihn.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=001&Product_Code=TB0720

They've got that one in Black with Wasabi interior right now.

Check 'em out. Great bags and they have some backpack selections too.

It would be rude to say someting about this thread sounding like my wife *****ing about purse shopping, so instead, I'll just post some random smileys.

I have two Tumi bags in different sizes. They are great.

I've got a leather Kenneth Cole Reaction briefcase that does a good job at holding all my stuff. Plenty of pockets. Could carry two laptops if I needed to.

Re read your post. Regarding the slim bag I think Coach would have plenty of options.

A good briefcase/computer bag is an important tool for many successful business men/women. People who have never worked in this world wouldn't understand.

I've been looking at the 5.11 Moab 6 for an iPad bag. It may fit the air and iPad.

    Bingo!

I've shredded many a Tumis in my time. (actually one Tumi, many times)
Thank God for lifetime warranties...but I just use a Swiss pack now (just like everyone else on the plane...hence the Reds baseball cap clipped to the handle of mine).
It does have one red compartment, which I never realized how handy having a colored compartment can be until you mentioned that in this post. Probably not what you're looking for though.

You'd probably get tackled to the ground by the cops as they search through your tactical bag full of all sorts of tools to kill. :tongueout:

Actually I remember your post from the last thread I started on this. (yeah I'm still searching)

You'll be happy to know that I just picked up a swissgear TSA compliant backpack at SAMs for about $35. I figure for $35 I couldn't go wrong and in the worst case it'll go into the stable for general use.

Search isn't over though. I'm intrigued by the bag another poster above linked to as well.

I REALLY like the Tumi backpacks except for the black compartments. But I've heard about others having the same durability problems you mentioned. For $300-$400 backpack there shouldn't be any compromises.

I bought one of the smaller Swissgear packs ($20) and am very happy with it.

VELO - Thanks for the link. I think I'm about to be a couple hundred bucks poorer: http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/PROD/100/TB0104

That looks really nice. He doesn't show a shot of the interior though so I'm going to do a little research.

    His stuff looks top notch.

You're welcome. They are very well built bags.

This guy does a pretty good demo: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DTTw2jwTec"]Tom Bihn Brain Bag and Brain Cell Demo - YouTube[/ame]

    I was sold on tumi.

Then did side by side and ended up buying briggs an Riley. Inside tumi was black. B and R light gray. Helps a lot to see stuff...especially in night flight. Also the small pockets in tumi are not as nice as one big pocket.

Tumi is nice...but functionally behind b&r

My roller brief and my rollaboard is a B&R. Everything on it is nicer than the Office Depot stuff......elastic where it should be, heavy zipper, pull out id card, etc.

This looks like a nice offering from them
