Something makes me think that if I ever ended up in such a situation if a 5-shot .38 Smith would even make a difference...?

Just a random thought I wanted to share. :whistling:

IMO my 642 is a better choice than a P3at or similar .380 pocket pistol. I'm not sure a 9mm pocket pistol would be a step up either...

What I like about my 642 is that I can comfortably carry it anywhere (that is legal of course) in any clothing. It goes mountain biking with me, out to nice dinners, and everywhere in between. It is also as reliable as a hammer...it always works. Having it available anytime and functioning 100% of the time should is my definition of EDC and my 642 covers it.

It's not the most accurate pistol I own, and .38+p isn't the hardest hitting round in my safe...but having it concealed and convenient what it's about.

Im not sure if a single armed patron with a .38 and 5 shots could have stopped that guy yesterday...but I am sure that a room full of unarmed people didn't have a chance.

I came to the conclusion long ago that a .380 pocket pistol or J-frame was not suitable as a primary carry gun. I typically carry a G17 or when I'm going "light", a Kahr P9.

Its always been my glock 23 , now loaded with the new Hornady 175 gr flexlock critical duty . This is especially when me and my family go out together. Sometimes its the lowly Russian Makarov with two exra mags in my pocket. Loaded with Barnaul 95 gr JHP steelcased. It will do the job alright.

That's whats nice about the G26,27,33. I know they are 'big'" subcompacts but deadly accurate out to 20 yards and easy to shoot. throw a few extra mags in the mix and you are formidable good guy against a BG

It's the man not the gun.

But I still hold on to carrying a full size 1911.

My G19 (with 2 standard caps as backup) just earned more rangetime/carrytime.

Its soooo easy to just drop my 642 into my front pocket on the way out the door, thinking I'm safe 'cause I am just going around the block in my "safe' Richmond neighborhood for milk.

Unfortunately, thats what a bunch of people thought when they went out to that movie, ordinairily a non-event.

I don't carry to stop situations like these.

It would be silly to try to carry the tools necessary for such an occasion.

I wonder how somebody or a few people armed with 5/6/7 shot 380 or 38 special firearms with a bit of training might have altered the situation:dunno:
    Could have been quite different.

One shot to the head, and that attack is over. But I do like a ten shot mag, and a second mag on my belt gives me a good chunk of ammo. I usually carry a G26, but just got a G30 also (also ten round mag).

It's ugly, it's bulky and it's heavy... but my G20 I have confidence in.

I'll keep the gun, I'm more accurate with it than any other handgun I've shot. I will step up the headshot practice though.

You might find it easier to rinse the pee off of your Glock.

Locked and loaded, OAL is 23.3 inches, and fits inside a small backpack. :whistling:

I mean, hell, with BGs running around in body armor, ya gotta have something that'll penetrate. :faint:

This guy would have pissed himself and ran if he's heard a shot that wasn't his. I don't care if it was a .22. That said, I have considered going from a 10mm short to a 10mm long.. because there might be a bg out there who isn't as big of a ****** as this guy is..

Tokarev 7.62x25mm - would I be the only one? No with that situation, I'm not sure what to carry, but I'll end up with a 10mm one day.
