Finally decided to part with the $$$ and order an iMac.

I hope this thing is as good as they say it is. Has to be better than this PC anyway.

Give it about a week to get used to the controls. Oh and don't try to micromanage your iMac like you would a PC, and you'll love it. I got two Macs and thinking about a third.

Just curious what you mean when you say "micromanage a PC". I've been nursing this WinME box along for several years with Norton Utilities on it and slowly watching it degrade. I don't get into the "guts" and play with the registry. Mostly I just try to leave it alone and hope for the best. :)

Inevitably s/w upgrades and installations seem to wind up in some sort of conflict and things stop working, like being able to watch DVD movies. If I remember right, upgrading to Direct X 8.1 for another s/w install put the kibosh on DVD viewing.

So anyway, I am hoping for better and tighter s/w integration on the Mac.

And the fact that it's running UNIX won't hurt a thing. :)

Here are two of the best programs you can add to Windows ME.

    http://www.ccleaner.com

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Diskeeper_Lite_d1207.html

Also what Ccleaner misses in the registry you can clean with this one

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/WT_RegCleanerXP_d3560.html

Restart after installing each program without using Ccleaner until after the last restart after installing the last program.

These work better than Norton utilities although Norton works better than Windows ME utilities. These programs make up for what doesn't work properly in Windows ME.

ME is what drove me to Mac as well.

In fact, it was the Direct X thing that did it.

Your Mac will be true plug-n-play. No micromanaging the configuration.

We splurged and went with the 20" version with 1GB of RAM. I hope it doesn't become obsolete too soon. :)

We thought FEDEX would deliver it today. They said they would anyway. But they didn't. Have to wait until Monday. :(

Sweet!!! The display is really nice. I have a 23" Cinema Display. Super cool! Good job with the ram too. Can't have to much.
