I'm thinking about getting a .45

I've got a g26, g19, g23 and am looking for a full size pistol or another compact (glock 19 size). I do not currently have a .45 pistol so I figured it might be a good idea to pick up one. I'm not interested in a 1911, just figure I'd throw it out there since it's so iconic with the .45acp.

I'm looking for a pistol that would be appropriate as a duty weapon. I'm familiar with and trust Glocks but the SW M&P .45 really caught my eye. My LGS had one in flat dark earth for $550 and it's a full size. Reviews them seem very positive. They had a G21 gen 4 and it looked nice but it was $640, no night sights... It feels quite a bit chunkier in my hands than my other Glocks.

Anyway thoughts on the G21, SW M&P .45, and what other make and models should I look at?

After a little online shopping I'm starting to favor this version of the M&P 45

I carry a M&P 9mm pro series for cc. I haven't shot one in .45 but if it shoots as well as the 9mm then you will really enjoy it. A great shooting pistol for the price.

More of a Glock guy but love my M&P.

I covet the Glock 21. I think it will be a great addition to the 19 and two 17s I already own.

As an owner I agree. My favorite, non-1911 platform for the .45

Have you handled a Glock 30 or 30sf? Of the 3 Glock .45s I prefer the 30sf. Also own a FNP-45 which is a sweet shooter, holds 15 rounds, etc. The M&P I have never shot but I know a couple of folks that have one and both of them really like theirs.

I have a .45 XDM 5.5 competition. Great gun. I like the feel of my M&P .45 more but the XDM does hold more rounds.

That looks like a good choice. I have never tried one but I have an M&P40c (w/o the mag disconnect safety) that is very nice in that size/power range so I imagine the 45 would be good.

I own both guns in your query.

The G 21 is a bigger gun with 13 rds the norm. The Gen 4 is much more suited to a smaller hand, even more so that an GEN 3 G 21SF. The S&W on the other hand (No pun intended) is more comfortable as I hold it in my hand. It is also more accurate. The basic magazine only holds 10 rds and the 13 rd magazine is a big god awful long thing.

Both are great pistols and either one will serve you well.

.45 is a great round and will complement any other calibers.

    Good addition.

Atleast look at a Sig P220, I love mine. Very reliable and accurate .45's and the grip feels great in my hand.

My LGS has that exact M&P in the exact color and configuration. After selling my FS M&P 9 with poor accuracy, I've been thinking of trying the 45acp version since they don't seem to have that issue. If my 9 version was even combat accurate, I would of kept since it's the most comfortable pistol I've ever held.

Buy the best. Buy HK. USP or HK45.

I'm not familiar with the models you stated or what you meant to communicate lol... something blah blah was comfortable but not accurate blah blah...

No intention to be rude but that was incoherent.

I have been carrying the .45 M&P (no safety) for a few years now as my duty pistol and love it.

This is what turned me from Glock. I still have my 9mm and .40 Glocks and won't part with them.

I would take a look at the G30s when it comes out in Gen4. Another one is a XDM 3.8 .45. I own one and its a outstanding gun.
