.....the 1980's. It is a Steel Challenge match.

I shot only .357's and 1911 .45's "back in the day". I competed in IPSC back then with the 1911. I got out of competing in the 1990's, but started again about ten years ago.

When I started again it was in "outlaw" Steel matches. That got me into 9mm's.....many, various "platforms": Sig P226, Beretta, Glock, HK, CZ etc. I also started shooting IDPA in that time; SSP (stock service pistol) category so I stuck with DA/SA 9mm's.

Well, I got my first 1911 in 9mm a few months back, and after doing a ton of dry firing practice from the holster and range time (about 5,000 rounds), I'm going to use it today for this steel match. It's a Dan Wesson Specialist that replaced my CZ 75 TS. Wish me luck please. :)

Best of luck, but most of all just relax and have a good time. I have a steel challenge match tomorrow. I squad with the same bunch every month. Ol... seasoned shooters just out for some fun and sun. Poking fun of each other is as high pressure as we get.
Tomorrow I'm shooting my G34 in carry optic. I also have a S.A. RO 9mm for single stack and a Tanfoglio stock 3 for limited. Yes, to many pistols to get good at any one of them.
I'll also shoot my Ruger 22/45 tomorrow. Everybody shoots rimfire and a centerfire class. Look into a 22lr and double your fun!

Good luck and be safe, and ride the safety with your thumb. I bet you know that already if you've played games with a 1911 before.

Thanks. Yeah, I’ll shoot my Ruger MK IV Competition in rimfire too
