    The car is ok.

The deer is definitely NOT OK. :scared:

I made it 26 years of driving without killing anything. Oh well, it was a good streak. :sigh:

It was a small doe and I was going pretty slow, it was on a dark windy road. I had seen the mama and siblings, so I was slowing down even more, but it still flew up and rolled a bunch, tried to get up, and then...did not. I called it in, they said to go on home and they'd send someone out to errr, dispose of it, I guess.

On the way home, MORE deer ran in front of me. It makes me so mad at the idiots who oppose managed hunts around here.

We live in a pretty urban area, and the deer are just beyond overpopulated, and a serious hazard/nuisance.

Re: venison, etc...I'm not gonna lie, I pulled over to a safe area in front of where it landed to call/check car, and it was pitch dark out. I didn't go back and look at it. I sure as HECK wasn't gonna touch it.

I am glad you and your vehicle are okay. Around here, they typically give you the option of keeping it. But, I am not sure what the options are where you are at. Some places have it processed and donated to charity. Either way, I am sure it won't go to waste.

I am close to 100% sure they don't here. In fact, knowing where we live, it's probably illegal

    I knew it:

Here in Maryland, if you want to take home a deer you killed with your vehicle, you first must obtain a proper tag and have that filled out before moving the animal.

It was you or the giant rodent, Mrs. V. You did what you had to do and made it home.

Yeah, honestly, I'm rattled but not as bad as id have expected. I did everything right, and it probably helped that there was no car damage. I mean, I'm sorry it was in pain, but I honestly don't think I'm going to lose much sleep over it.

I must be getting jaded or something.

I've wasted 14 good Winchester ranger .40 rounds on those suckers in the last few months. Seems like we get one every two or three shifts here. They are very densely overpopulated.

    Glad you're ok.

I cannot reiterate enough to drive THROUGH whatever it is (humans excluded) that is running in front of you. Much more damage is caused by trying to swerve.

Thatd be a monumental waste of time here. We give it to whoever comes by first or we have a huge list of folks to call.

You should call the local government and ask them to move the deer-crossing signs. :whistling:

Seriously, though. Glad you're okay. My dad hit the back end of a dark-colored cow early on a foggy morning and I was so thankful he wasn't injured. The car needed a new windshield, though...
