Imagine how the tables would be turned if a parent tried to intervene in any of this. The parent would be dead, and we would be reading about how that parent shouldn't have made him feel threatened.

    Used/Depreciation.

My wife drives a 2016 MB SUV with a sticker price of nearly $80k that we paid $45k for and I have a 2016 BMW that had a sticker of $50k that I paid $33k for.

You can find used X6s on carmax for under $30k.

Always makes me glad to see good guys and gals arresting bad guys and gals that need arresting.

I'm not picking on the OP, but... gotta give credit to them what is due it when they get it right... or not (in some peoples cases).

One of our guys bought a top of the line Caddy SUV that a guy bought and used for two years to shuttle celebs from Monterey airport to Carmel and Pebble Beach. Original price was 80k. He got it for 50k. Huge drop for just two years worth of use. And it wasn't like it was an everyday driver kind of thing. He wasn't using it to work for Uber.

Yes, I am implying that Solomon would probably not be a police officer if he was a white male.

Add on top that raises and wages are stuck in the early 2000’s pay range.

Not around my parts. Not even close, unless you’re a Chief.

    Hopefully.

As a retired LEO, I know that there are sick, scumbags in all walks of life including law enforcement. Fortunately, they usually get discovered, but sometimes not quickly enough.

Saying “I respect law enforcement but...” on a story like this is like saying “I respect teachers but...” or “I respect preachers but...”

I did it for several years by working 55 - 65 hours a week. It wasn’t worth it after taxes, but is factored in on my retirement and may help me later on down the road.

Sounds like this guy lived at home with his mother, and if that’s the case it wouldn’t require much, if any overtime.

He’s a direct reflection on the political climate when it comes to hiring & retaining officers who aren’t educated, white males.

Well, there is a good chance he just helped some people make a lot of money, so maybe he is.

Actually, if this was off duty, not so much, but I don't recall from the story. They should have hired a lawyer before they talked to the press, so he could help them "remember" how the guy may have tried to use his law enforcement authority.

    That isn't a law enforcement officer. That's a scumbag with a badge.

Like many here, you missed the point. I have several LEO's in my family, active and retired. I'm usually the first to comment that it's just the media trying to crucify another cop before the facts are in. But, in this case, it seems that the facts are that this guy was a serial a-hole and shouldn't be wearing a badge. The headlines everywhere stated his profession big and bold.
    Sorry about the panty twisting.
