My first choice would he the XD, followed pretty closely by the M&P. Eventhough I am a Sig fan I have never really cared too much for the Pro series, they just feel so cheap to me.

Since XD's fit my hand horribly (and that's an individual thing, nothing against the line itself) and I don't like Sig's trigger, my vote is for the M&P.

I had an M&P 9c a while back. It was a great gun. It felt great in my hand and vas a very sweet shooter. I just preferred my G26 for that role. I've actually been thinking about getting a full size M&P, just to have it. Like you said, branching out.

If you want to change manual of arms then I say Sig 2022 , but if you want to stay with a stricker fire style pistol like your glocks then I would say M&P.

From your three choices, I will go with Sig Pro. It's pretty much our only chance to get it, unless Sig decide to bring it back again.

Have you looked at CZ's lineup? Just a thought.

Other than that, the M&P's are pretty nice. A friend of mine bought one and he likes it. I cant shoot it well though.

Of the 3 I would get the MP. Throw the the XDM and it would be a tough choice. I carry the Sig Pro as an issue weapon and it is cheap. The Pro is accurate but is tough to shoot accurately, if that makes any sense. It is nothing like the Classic models.

I've never understood why folks would want a bunch of carry pistols with totally different manual of arms.

People talk about the need in developing muscle memory, instinct, natural reflex. So you've been carrying a Glock for 10 years, practiced 10s of thousands of draws and shots... then you decide to carry a 1911, get in an unfriendly situation, and then ... "the trigger doesn't work!"

Hmmm... forget to swipe off the safety did ya? ;)

Both of my carry pistols have the identical manual of arms. The only differences between the two are size, weight, and round count.

    To each his own. :)

if remembering multiple "manual of arms" gives you that much trouble i'm not so sure a gun is going to do you a lot of good in a self defense situation. you either pull the trigger, or you flick a switch and then pull the trigger, it's not like you're trying to work a 6 number combination lock in the dark.

Of course, you're absolutely right! I am too stupid to know what my reactions would be if I were in fear for my life when I develop dizziness, hyperventilation, tunnel vision, shaking, sweating, nausea, heart palpitations, and loss of fine motor skills.

Over the last several years, however, I've tried to mitigate these risks by taking a variety of pistol classes, some of which are self defense related, and have read a number of books related to psychological and physiological aspects in self defense situations.
