Illegal to CCW in a church in Mississippi.

I've thought about this many times and deep concealment, etc., as we had one event with a "stranger" during a service.

However, I choose not to commit a felony. So duck or run is the only option and my wife carries a really thick bible I could thump them with if close enough.

Ok, really....would you think a DA would pursue charges against me if I was able to further prevent anymore violence?

Let me tell my joke about GOD protecting us.

    God will save me
It had been raining for days and days, and a terrible flood had come over the land. The waters rose so high that one man was forced to climb onto the roof of his house.

As the waters rose higher and higher, a man in a rowboat appeared, and told him to get in. “No,” replied the man on the roof. “I have faith in the Lord, the Lord will save me.” So the man in the rowboat went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and suddenly a speedboat appeared. “Climb in!” shouted a man in the boat. “No,” replied the man on the roof. “I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me.” So the man in the speedboat went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters continued to rise. A helicopter appeared and over the loudspeaker, the pilot announced he would lower a rope to the man on the roof. “No,” replied the man on the roof. “I have faith in the Lord, the Lord will save me.” So the helicopter went away. The man on the roof prayed for God to save him.

The waters rose higher and higher, and eventually they rose so high that the man on the roof was washed away, and alas, the poor man drowned.

Upon arriving in heaven, the man marched straight over to God. “Heavenly Father,” he said, “I had faith in you, I prayed to you to save me, and yet you did nothing. Why?” God gave him a puzzled look, and replied “I sent you two boats and a helicopter, what more did you expect than that?”

Moral of the story.......... Some times GOD doesn't use divine intervention pr an army of Angels, he just puts moral men and women in the right place at the right time for what you require.

So I read most of the comments and printed it out since I go to a Church Of God affiliated church and we are planning a safety department.

Most of the people who complain about guns are Guest.... cowards.

In another article about this shooting it's reported that the 'victims' are not cooperating with authorities.

I lived in an adjacent community 40 years ago. Richmond, CA was dangerous then. Seems not much has improved.

I don't think it would be a felony to conceal carry in a church building, but I am not a lawyer. It is just not one of the places you can carry with your Firearms permit. Recently an amendment to the CCW laws in MS failed. One of the changes was to allow CCW in churches and places of worship.

I pray before road trips, and I wear my seatbelt.
I pray for my home, but have smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.
I pray for protection for my family, and pack every single church service.

Im from Richmond and this thing happens all the time. I was listening on the police scaner at work when this was happening. I work at Hilltop Mall in Richmond for sercurity and just a couple months ago a 15 year old kid was shot down in the parking lot. I was right there and the kid died right in front of me.

It is legal in FL to carry concealed at a church. I had a use of force class yesterday with a police sergeant and he recommended anyone with a permit carry in church. He said there is no reason not to and if you need a gun you will likely really need it bad.

Kinda weird this comes up...so I'll share what happened at church yesterday.

I go to what "looks" like a very large church, but in reality, only has bout 50, maybe 60 members. Its not in a very good area, and we've had riffraff wander in before, but usually don't cause problems.

Yesterday 2 young people(probably under 20) walked in right as the offering plate was being collected, and sat down in a rear pew. I heard them come in and keyed in on them, because they just didn't look right. I'm quite certain they saw me staring at them and I suspect I'm not the only one who noticed them. They sat there for about 5-10sec then got up, and headed towards the sanctuary exit. I don't know if the Pastor knows I carry or not, but he immediately looked at me and kinda nodded towards the door. I got up, walked out, and they were gone. I did a quick check of the rest of the building to make sure they did walk out, and everything was normal. Looked outside to make sure nobody was messing w/ cars, and nobody was in sight.

I carry to church every Sunday because I envisioned just such an event. A couple weeks ago, the pastor came up to embrace me in the foyer and I'm sure he felt the hard lump behind my right hip. He's a staunch conservative and I'll bet he was thankful to know at least one member of his flock was ready for the wolves.

In Michigan, it's illegal to carry in church without the permission of the 'presiding official' (see #5 below). Here's a list of the Pistol Free Areas legislated into the state law. If you are visiting and have a CCW honored by Michigan, please make sure you know and understand the law.
