Hooray! I didn't! I'll wait for service pack 1 to fix the bugs that were supposed to be fixed before release.

    BSOD!

You are very smart...SP1 should be here later in the year.

No, I have not and will not until the service pack is released.

I still much prefer Mac OS X, btw.

I did and it's just fine. I got a great deal on a system:
1054 Kb sdram memory, 250 GB drive, dual core Intel ViiV, cd/dvd/rw/r etc, 17" flat screen, Norton systemworks, HP all in one printer/scan/copy.
I just use it for home stuff and for $479, I don't think I could have done better.

heres a positive review from the Mac forum:

    This is interesting.

    From Cult of Mac,

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been running Vista on a quad-Xeon Mac Pro. Click the link to see how it’s working out.

The Mac Pro is a very fast and capable OS X machine, but it’s an even faster Windows Vista machine.

Vista really flies on this beast, and feels like it’s faster than OS X – it boots faster, folders burst open and apps launch instantly.

(The Mac Pro has two dual-core 2.66GHz Xeon chips; 3GBs of RAM; and a medium-range NVidia GeForce 7300 GT graphics card)

I’m especially delighted with Vista’s “glass” Aero interface, which works in all its glory on this machine.

The OS is dark and handsome. It’s really quite exciting. Like the Zune’s interface, it's artfully done. The beautifully-rendered shadow effects and transparency give Vista a greater “depth” than OS X, which looks a little flat and well… old fashioned in comparison. I know this is because Vista’s new and novel, but it makes OS X look dated.

There’s a bunch of interface features I wish Apple would copy. Vista’s widgets, called “Gadgets,” are always on top – a vast improvement over having to hit a hotkey to see them.

Vista’s icons are big and colorful, and frankly, a lot more logical and easy to read than some of OS X’s, like the intelligible iWeb icon.

It would have been better without the Norton system pig...

No standing in line, I ordered it. Showed up at my house today, but I am 2000 miles away. I got it for one reason and one reason only. Direct X 10.

Have the Enterprise version from work, love it! I was considering switching to a Mac, but I don't think I will now. Vista makes great strides in looks, security, and stability (although I've had exactly 0 issues with XP stability). Vista is just a better all around OS than OSX in terms of applications/hardware support and usability FOR ME. The only thing (and I mean ONLY) I'd like to see Microsoft copy from OSX is the ability to just drag a program onto the hard drive and have it work. This will likely never happen though, Windows developers are too ingrained in the old processes. Mac fans preach how OSX is lightyears ahead of Windows, but it's really not...I mean, what if you want to restore something from the trash can...do you remember were it was? Because OSX doesn't!

Vista looks like something our grandmother would need...not anyone that knows a little about computers. I will not get it until my games demand it...which I hope will be a couple years anyway.

I read about some initial vista vs xp performance tests and xp was still faster in almost every one

Seems like that would be hard to guage. Cause at least with xp there's lots of optional stuff you can turn on and off that will change how fast it runs. I wouldn't surprise me at all that xp was faster with its features turned down.

My friend at Microsoft sent me two copies of Ultimate edition. I have no plans to install until sp1 comes out though.
