    Hello:
I have just installed Avant browser. But, I uninstalled IE because I thought it might slow down the new browser.

I run Windows 98 still and like MSN.com to be my home page.
I can't get videos of any make to run now.

    Should I reinstall IE?

I don't want IE back, but I like to look at videos from time to time.

    Any help appreciated.....

IE is part of the inner workings of Windows. You shouldn't just uninstall it.Also I believe Avant needs and uses IE.I don't think Avant works on it's own like Mozilla or Opera.

Is that Windows 98 or Windows 98 SE?How fast is your PC and how much memory does it have?

    Thanks for your reply.

I reinstalled Windows Media Player, and I can now view videos. I couldn't before.

I'm not really married to Avant either, so could I just run Mozilla instead?
I can't get IE to reinstall.

Not sure how fast my computer is or how much memory it has.

Mozilla and Firefox reqire at least 64MB of memory.Opera will install with less and is fast but you might not like the look of it.

How did you unistall IE?You can delete the desktop icon with unistalling IE.Can download IE from here

You should add Ccleaner to Windows 98

    http://www.ccleaner.com

Only run Ccleaner after installing the programs you want and restarting your PC.Then you can run Ccleaner and keep it in your PC.

    I have the CCleaner, thanks.

I have tried to reinstall IE but can't for some reason. It starts to, but say's it can't.

Will I just have to put the recovery disk in and try to load Windows that way?

    Oh my goodness.

Avant Browser is just a shell using IE.

Sounds like your system is pretty hosed.

    I recommend a full re-install.

You may just need to uninstall Avant first.Oh and Microsoft dropped support for Windows 98 this year.

Actually, my system runs pretty good the way it is.
I'm just not sure if I need IE for anything else, as DC suggested.
The only problem was I couldn't view videos so I reinstalled Windows Media player.

Dumb move on my part uninstalling IE!! ;g

Thanks for your comment. I may have to go with a full reinstall yet.
