I am going to try and find a place in Wisconsin to shoot IDPA and I need to decide on a gun to shoot.. I have holsters for my 1911's and my HK usp -40 , but I am wondering if I would do well with my 31 or 32 ???? I shoot them very well despite a bit of recoil and a bit more flip then my other guns... Do any of you shoot IDPA ??? what glock do you think would work well knowing the drill... ???? I have not seen a match yet ...

    I can choose from:
    21-C
    36
    17-C
    19-C
    32
    31

Cs are not permitted; rules thingy.
31 and 32 should work fine.

Longer barrels seem do do well in my neck of the woods.

    Enjoy.

Sounds like the 31 would be the ticket unless I decide to get a new barrel for the 21 ..... I assume they would allow the C- model if you use a standard barrel ????

Right now I am shooting a G20 in IDPA. Its great.
I think that a G31 would fit to start, basically because of the the longer slide for sight picture and the regular size frame.
Once you get the knack of IDPA you can switch out to the G32 if you want.

It mostly depends on what you shoot/carry more and is more natural in your hand.

The G20 is great for me since I have been shooting and carrying it for years now. I like the feel of it and the frame size works for me.
The power it has is great and have noticed that the G31 feels real nice too.
I tried using one of my G17's, but it just doesn't do it for me.
I like the G31 and once I get one I will be using it for my IDPA too.

    Have fun,it's a blast

I am another scott by the way... I have no ccw in Wisconsin, but I am comfortable most with 1911's . My current one is a springfield stainless loaded longslide... I don't think it will fit into IDPA in the box... So I have to shoot something... and I am comfortable with the glocks and since the C - models are out I guess the 31 is the animal... I need to get a holster for it.

I use a standard glock mag pouches x2 and a glock holster.
the cheapest I have got them is from outdoor-source

    http://www.outdoor-source.com/index.html
    9.49 Glock gun holster
    6.99 Glock mag holders x 2
Outdoor-source also has great prices on fobus too, $15.39 belt holster

That can get you by until you find your own preference of holsters

I like the Safariland 5181 leather holster for carrying and sometimes use it for IDPA too.

There is just something about the feel of Leather;f

let me know how you do

    Quantico,
I am also from WI and am wondering where you have gone for any matches? I have shot a couple of combat pistol and rifle matches with the WI National Guard shooting team and have been kicking around the idea of other competition shooting. I live in the Wausau area, where would I go to get info on shooting events in my area. I have seen brochures on the S.A.S.(I think that is what is is) in the Eau Claire area. Any help would be helpful. Thanks, Brandon.

BJS I am looking for an IDPA place and it looks like pewaukee is the closest place and they seem to have few shoots per year. I have never shot IDPA , but am looking to get started... I am in the Milwaukeee area.

I use my Glock 31 for IDPA more than I use any other of my Glocks, and now that I got my reloading press mounted again, and have enough components, I just loaded up a bunch of rounds for tomorrow's IDPA competition.

I always get a good deal of attention when I shoot, mostly because my own loads made with Alliant Power Pistol produces a big BANG, and people are wondering what kind of nuclear loads I am shooting, even though my loads are somewhat conservative (124 grain, 1325 fps).
