I was just called a Liar. I corrected a so called group that Georgia was NOT an open carry state. They told me that I am a liar and to stay off their board. I live on the AL/GA stateline. Unless it's something NEW. GA is NOt an open carry state. Am I wrong? If so I Apologize.

From what I've found on opencarry.org:

"Georgia is not a traditional open carry state. However, open carry IS legal with a Georgia permit. It is also worthy of note that you MAY openly carry a firearm without a permit in a motor vehicle."

    http://www.opencarry.org/ga.html

    Hope this helps.

Georgia allows open carry, but only with a GFL (Georgia Firearms License/Concealed carry permit).

If you are eligible for a GFL (meaning you don't have one but have no reason to be disqualified from getting one) you can carry openly or concealed in your home, car, or place of business.

If'n yore pants are on fire, you could run for public office.

I guess technically you could call it an open carry state. Coming from a state where one does not need a permit to open carry, that permit requirement seems a bit restrictive.

I would think any state that allows the ownership of a handgun allows you to open carry in the privacy of your home.

    Sadly you would be wrong.

For example, even a gun friendly state like Texas only allows open carry when traveling.

Traveling? Wrong. Handguns must be kept concealed.
Texas has no open carry of handguns (other than on your own property or hunting/fishing/camping). Long guns may be open carried.

I live in Texas and open carry a handgun while mowing the lawn.

If you legally own the handgun, who's to say what you do with it behind closed doors?

That is incorrect. It is not legal to open carry in TX while traveling or in a vehicle. It even says so on opencarry.

Your firearm must be concealed at all times in TX while in public.

I opened this in case you were saying Auburn has the best recruiting class in the nation. In that case, liar might have been correct :tongueout:.

Seriously, the Chambers, Lee and Covington County deputies give you problems? What law do they use when making an arrest?

I havent had any problem with the local LEOs. Because Im not going to test them by carrying Open. I have heard others talk in the local gunshop about their dealings with open carry. But anyway..... Just take my word for it and walk through the local Walmart or super Market with your gun visible. With civilian clothes on ofcourse. Security and the local PD will swarm that place.

I was told by a GA State Patrol Officer once that I had to have my handgun unloaded and stored in the truck or glove dept of my vehicle while traveling through his state.

I mean I carry open at home. I feel this is my right not a privilege. But not going to test them out and about in public.
