    Hullooo..

During routine virus scanning, my antivirus picked up winlogon.exe as a virus and has quarantined it...Now my computer just keeps rebooting continuously....I'm wondering if
    I should restore that file....

The virus associated with it is Trojan Horse Flooder.ake...

    Running XP..

    Any ideas appreciated....

Instead or before restoring the deleted infected files try this.

    Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup

When it's ready to clean look at the checked boxes.Note which one are checked and use the defaults at first. If some system files are found missing it will tell you and ask you to insert the Windows CD to replace the files.

Also a good registry cleaner and system utility is this one,

The same thing happened to my wife's computer last night. The machine won't boot at all, not even in safe mode. You also can't boot to last known good configuration. A XP cd won't repair it either. Unless someone else on here has a better idea I'm going to do a new install on a small HD slave the original one, transfer the data to the new master, reformat the original, and then mirror the small drive back to the original one. I am obviously not looking forward to that process, and I, as well as the original poster I'm sure, would be glad to take any other suggestions.

I tried doing the repair off of the CD, not using the repair console. It wouldn't work. It would write the files but the computer still wouldn't boot. Looks like I'll have a busy weekend.
