5 stand for the 2nd time today. It was down-right humiliating
What is a 5 stand Kathy honey I'm so sorry it didn't go well for ya sweetie pie
Never shot 5-stand, but I love skeet shooting. I don't get to go often enough to get good at it though.
I see, I'm so sorry it didn't go well for ya sweetie
5-stand is the most challenging of the clay sports for me. It most definitely is not for the occasional shooter.
Try sporting clays. They are challenging too.
I just take the view that I aint very good at it but it sure is fun!!!
Don't worry about it too much. The idea is to have fun, and if it was too easy, it would be boring.
I was nervous as heck the first time I went to the Hermon Skeet Club (also have trap and sporting clays) until I actually shot a couple rounds. Lots of the higher ranking members had shotguns that cost as much as my truck, but I quickly learned that money can't buy a natural eye for the sport.
Using a Ruger Red Label, holding from the low postion I managed to break all but one of the birds on my second time through. The low house always is my nemisis! Some of the more senior struggled to best that despite the high dollar shotguns held from the shoulder.
In the end, it doesn't matter a lick how you did as long as you enjoyed it. Most of my "skeet" shooting is done at the gravel pit with a couple or three throwers depending on how many people we can get together for an afternoon. Perhaps the most fun shooting I've had was "golf shooting" a few buckets of "range balls" with two guys one either side with pitching wedges.
While you may "dust" a clay pigeon, there's something special in seeing a golf ball decide to take off to the next county when you nail it in mid-flight.
Keep up with your shooting and even the 5 station will become almost boring after a while!
Sporting Clays is my favorite.
love wobble trap!
Nothing like a little clay disk to take the old self esteem right down the toilet. Tried plain old trap when I was a kid. Of course I tried to use an old single shot with no recoil pad, no rib and no training. Went as well as could be expected. Keep trying, you'll get it.
Dont worry, I suck at it too. Left eye dominant and right handed. Cant hit a space ship at 50 yards w/ shot. last time I stood 5 stand I hit 4 outta 25. :embarassed::embarassed::embarassed: They were very hard sets but I still went home crying! :embarassed:
How is that doing there?
It was brought to my local club, and they invested thousands in the machines, and equipment. The machines now sit locked up, and the stands are all broken up.
It was a huge flop for my club.
I don't know if it was just poor management, or poor advertisement that killed it.
I'm with you, Zonny. Sporting clays is my favorite also. Had to change favorites when I moved to a small town with only 1 shooting club. Thank goodness they have 5 stand. It's not quite as entertaining as sporting clays, but it sure is a fun way to kill a couple hours.
I've never tried 5 stand but love sporting clays. Started my son when he was 12. He's almost 15 now and I haven't out scored him in 2 years. He'll shoot 3 different shotguns in 2 different gauges during a round and still kick my ***!
I suck at that stuff too.
