    And it wasn't Donald Trump's.

A taxpayer and their spouse, with normal W-2 jobs, claimed they drove over 100,000 miles for their Schedule C businesses and their W-2 jobs. This is outside personal and commuting miles. The businesses had no income. Between the miles and other clearly fake business deductions (same large dollar amounts as in prior years), the taxpayer created 100k in business losses and itemized deductions.

What annoys me the most (and the reason for my rant) is that one of the taxpayers is a member of the clergy.

The Bible says ALL have fallen short of the glory of God. Clergy included.
Look to the Savior if you're searching for perfection, not the saved.
    Disappointing? Yes. Surprising? No.

Turn them in and get the reward?

I worry about writing off legitimate mileage because of the increased risk of audit. These idiots have done everything possible to flag their return.

More power to them if they can get away with it.

I'm not sure why clergy matters. There is nothing immoral about lying to the government to avoid taxes. In fact, the argument could be made that it's immoral NOT to lie to the government

I hate saying this, I have zero problems with whomever cheating the government. Especially after I observed my check online. I had about twenty hours overtime, which I hate as well, and I thought I had been cheated.
As far as clergy is concerned on their cheating, they are just simply saved sinners. One should never pedaltilize any human, well except maybe your mother.

The government cheats you every time you pay a dollar in taxes. That money goes to fund bureaucrat/government drone jobs, then the rest is transferred to a welfare recipient.

Denying them any money is a just and moral thing regardless of how you got the money and the methods you use to keep it

People think that a tax cheat cheats all of us.

    Not true!

The tax system is about many things but funding legitimate governmental functions is not one. It isn't a zero sum game. Taxes collected has NOTHING to do with dollars spent

Why did you see the return? CPA? Tax return preparer? Just curious.

You can do things 100% legal as far as you can tell, and still get banged for fines. Kinda like trucks getting Dept of motor vehicle inspections. Gets to the point where a person thinks: "May as well cheat, even when I do it honestly I seem to break the law".
