    Same brand?
If not, I'd bet it is more flimsy.
Mine is canvas, but pretty stout.

I know, because I've searched high and low for a suitable replacement.
I have two brand new falls, in my closet.
    The search has dwindled.

I’m “buy once, cry once” when it comes to things like this. Spend some coin on a Folsom or nice Columbia shaving bag and it will last you a long, long time. I’ve had my Columbia one since 2000 and it has been everywhere with me.

“Dopp kit is a term particularly in use in the US for toiletry bags. The name derives from the early 20th century leather craftsman Charles Doppelt, whose company designed the case in 1926. Toiletry kits had been issued by the US military services during World War I. "Toiletry" and "Dopp" kits became synonymous when the military issued them through World War II.”

Like many Saddleback products, it’s form over function. It looks nice but at the cost of functionality. Who wants to fiddle around with that strap every time they need access? There’s a reason most kits don’t use a buckle closure system. Get the Filson.

Couterpoint: Who completely closes and secures their Dopp kit after each use, morning and night? Mine sits open in my bathroom drawer on a daily basis, and is only zipped up (I don't own this Saddleback, but I do have one of their excellent credit card cases) when I actually travel.

If it jams, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacing, anyway.

Quite the tempest in a teapot over a name around here. I’m 64, a veteran, the son of a WW2 veteran, the nephew of 3 WW2 vets, and never heard a shaving kit referred to by any trade name by them. There may be an element of regionalism in the usage of the term or it might be a matter of how the makers have used the term for marketing. JMO...please do keep entertaining me with the man-bun and manpon aspersions.

When traveling, which is when I assume these kits get most of their use, they are opened and closed more frequently. I keep some meds in mine, clippers, etc. I’m opening and closing mine frequently when traveling. If you use it at home, then the Saddleback makes more sense. A lot of people dump their saddleback bags on eBay because they quickly realize it’s an inconvenience to use a briefcase or duffle bag that opens and closes with buckles.

It’s just the correct name for the item, named after its inventor/designer. I’m not sure how that’s considered “gay” or “feminine.” Are we in 5th grade?

I’ve called them Dopp list since I was little...got it from my dad and his dad (retired Leo and WW2 vet respectively). Neither one painter their nails or read vanity fair.... grandpa was a child of the depression and tough as they come...dad didn’t fall far from the tree. Haters gonna hate...

I travel ~175 days per year, mostly by plane, and have moved away from the classic bulky leather or canvas models. Now I pack everything into an eagle creek spill proof pouch. I use a combination of a small and medium bag. Small bag is for the liquids I replace / fill weekly (deodorant, shampoo, aftershave, etc...all on GoToob containers) and the medium is for my “kit” containing everything from razor / spare blades, nail clippers, bandaids, Q-tips, tweezers, dental floss, comb, etc... this one stays in My carryon and items get replaced or added as they break or I find the need. Great thing about these is they roll up and conform to your bag vs having to pack around them. Spill proof is a life saver as well if you have ever left your bag in a car in the middle of a Dallas summer....solid deodorant turns to a pool of goo when you do that.

Well, if that's your definition, there are a lot of folks using that terminology right here in this thread.

Maybe you want to take it up with them as well?

So if you call it what the WWII generation called it, is that a form of pseudo-manliness?
