Im going tommorow to pick up my first glock ever, my brother bought a 17g3 and its a dream to shoot, a bit on the large side for me so im opting for compact size like a 19. So here is my questions, should i go 3 or 4 gen, both feel good to me, and 9 or 40? Just looking for input from guys that know, btw im new to the forums and have.researched, but i started a thread so i can get more response in one place. Thanks guys

Well, a G23 with conversion barrels gives the option of .40, .357 Sig and 9mm.

Gen 3 or 4 19 in 9mm would be perfect for beginner.

I bought my first handgun 2 weeks ago and I went with the 23 gen 4. I fired it for the first time this past saturday flawlessly. Your probably like me in that you researched and saw all theses horror stories about the gen 4's FTF , and FTE or erratic ejections or brass to the face, I went through 200 rounds with no issues. I went with the the 23 for several reasons, but the most definitive was that really all you need to do is get a 40 - 9mm barrel from Lonewolfdist and a 40 - 357 sig and you essentially have 3 guns in one. There is also a 40 to .22 conversion kit by advantage arms so that makes four.

The firearm has a lot of pop to it but the recoil is smooth i love it and honestly you just can't beat the price. A friend of mine bought the H & K p something or other 40 cal and spent close to a g. Great firearm awesome grip very very comfortable, but I like the fact that there are so many accessories for the Glock series and not so much for the H & K in my opinion.

Good luck hope that helps in your decision making.

    My 2 cents

Get the Gen. 3 G19. I wouldn't buy a Gen. 4 personally, they still have some bugs to workout of the Gen. 4 19. It seems both new production Gens. are having problems with erratic ejections though it seems.

One more side note I don't know if has something to do with breaking in my mags but the 13th round was very difficult to load.

Compare problem threads on generation 3 vs 4 and you will know why.
19 because everyone knows it is not snappy, but some think the model 23 (40) is.
The consensus will be that it's hard to go wrong with a Gen. 3 Glock 19

gen 3 for me the gen 4 just didnt seem worth the extra $$ and as far as caliber i have 9mm and 40 9mm is of course cheaper but .40 is great too and only a couple bucks more per box

Glock 19 and Glock 23 have the same size frame. I went with the Glock 23 Gen 4. Great shooting pistol and I like the little extras you get with the Gen 4.

    For a first-time Glockmeister, go with the Gen4 G19 ..... :number1: ... you'll be glad you did.
