I bought an extra magazine for my G27.
I noticed it's lacking this metal indentation that all my other magazines have... both the G27 mags as well as my G26 and G19 magazines.

This extra G27 magazine is lacking this little cut out that shows the metal framework below. Is this normal? or did I buy a non-factory magazine? (it was labeled as Glock factory magazine when I bought it)

You bought an older generation mag. Nothing to be concerned about. I actually like those better as they seem to fit the pistol more flush.

Oh ok. Thanks! It was at a gunshow, so I was getting suspicious. :)

You got lucky the newer ones with the ambi cutout don't fit right in a standard frame.

Hmm, that's interesting. I just picked up a new 17, with a standard frame and 3 of those mags, and they fit and work just fine.

Same here. However, the older mags won't work in the newer Glocks.

OK. My understanding was that the newer amibidextrous mags were not useable in the non-ambidextrous Glocks?

You are absolutely wrong and the fact that the ambi mags work in all Glocks has been discussed here on GT ad nauseum. I cannot believe that you missed it.

The older one should fit and eject just fine, notice however when you insert the newer style with the ambi-cut, it does not fit as flushm, may pinch your finger and when you hit the mag release it shoots out of the magwell.

I like and prefer the older ones myself.

Well, we can't be perfect I guess. Must be that the older mags don't work in the newer amibi glocks?

Ok so just to be absolutely clear - Newer mags work in older glocks, but older mags dont work as well in newer glocks?

I'm about to order some mags for my 3rd Generation G23. Cheaperthandirt has factory 4th Generation G23 mags - these should work just fine in my 3rd Generation Glock?
