Just realized that I have no sense of style when it comes to clothes. I wear a uniform 5 days a week, and when I'm off I guess I don't care. I like plain t shirts and either Wrangler relaxed fit jeans or old 5.11 khakis.

I'm too old for American Eagle and too young for slacks and button down shirts.

I'm a slob, lol. Are you?

I wear a suit sometimes when I don't have to, does that answer your question? :)

You're pretty stylish. I don't even own a suit. I'm unprepared fr funerals outside of the Fire Dept.

No. while I can be rather casual I generally wear stylish clothing. I also have things going on in my life that require formal wear. I like the benefits that come with being a sharp dressed man.

I am also in either a Police uniform or a Coast Guard uniform several times a month.

One can never really be overdressed but you sure can be underdressed.

I've been married for almost 18 yrs. I ain't out to impress anyone. If I can't wear shorts, t-shirts and flippadee flop shoes in the summer, I don't need to be there. :)

I wear whats comfortable to me. Don't really care what others think, I do know how to "dress up" for occasions that require it, but I have to agree with VC-Racing... if I can't be relaxed and casual then it's really not needed for me to be there.

I guess it depends on what you do on your days off. I dress the same as you (also a firefighter uniform 24 on 24 off). I live in a rural area and spend the day tinkering with things and doing yard work. I'm not ashamed to go most places in jeans and a tshirt. I still look better than these lazy bum kids that walk around in their pajamas out in public. The most dressed I get is a button down shirt and slacks with comfy leather shoes (holidays, getting dragged to church etc.).

I understand that but I would like to point out that some amazing, important and interesting things happen where one must be well dressed.

I'm pretty plain in my dressing too.

    In my closet I've got:

    3 pairs jeans
3 solid color pocket T shirts
    3 Solid Color polo shirts
    1 pair of Kaki pants
1 pair of black dress pants
    1 white dress shirt
    1 blue dress shirt
    1 black suit
    2 ties

So yea, I guess I'm not stylish either. I don't really care though :)

I don't have a sense of style, but I like to be fashionable. Thankfully, my wife has a great fashion sense. I'm not ashamed to admit that I let my wife pick out my clothes.

I never wear shorts except at the beach. It doesn't have anything to do with trying to impress anyone, it's just how I feel that I should dress.

Having said that, I don't judge others for the way they choose to dress unless their armpit and/or chest hair is showing.

If you have money, then you don't need style. Style is what you make of it.

Sometimes you're correct and other times not so much in this regards. I suppose it all depends on the reason for dressing up and gathering.

In my mind, it's like etiquette, it's really all about not making others uncomfortable. Being terribly under OR overdressed for an occasion is in poor taste. I also think a person shouldn't limit themselves to either/or, as Rabbi said, you can miss out on a lot that way, but that applies equally to those who think they must always be dressed to the nines. YMMV.

Guys have it fairly easy in this regard, I think--if I realize I'm overdressed for something and I'm wearing a fairly neutral suit, I can lose the jacket and tie, maybe roll my sleeves up and I'm "casual."
