After lusting after one of these for a long while now, I finally decided to go out and buy one. This is my new Steyr M9-A1  These are not being imported anymore, as you all may know, so it wasn't easy tracking down a NIB one. I was tipped off to a sporting good store in MO called Dunn's Sporting Goods. They had one left, $399 + $25 shipped 2nd day air via UPS. Paid $25 to my FFL for the transfer, so I'm in it $450 out the door; not too bad considering how scarce they are. Anyways, if you all are interested, they had one USED one left for $350 + shipping. I can't wait to shoot this baby, I hear nothing but great things so I'm excited to see if the hype is true.

Nice, I may have to look up this gun shop. Do you know what city in MO? Is it a single stack? How does it compare in size to a g19?

The location I purchased from is in Pevely, MO. The link above gives you the contact information to all three stores. The used M9-A1 might have been in one of the others stores, I do not remember. The Steyr M9-A1 comes with 2 double stack magazines, magazine holds 15 rounds. I would say it is very comparable in size to a Glock 19.

Congratulations! You're fortunate to get two magazines with the pistol. I bought one two years ago from CDNN that came with two mags and a couple of months later I began reading that CDNN was shipping them with only one magazine. It's nice that Dunn's didn't take that route.

I predict you're going to like this handgun, but if you run into initial glitches don't panic. You might have the old style extractor and/or improper magazine springs. Jeff at SAI will send you both at no charge if you contact him with your model and serial number.

I had both old extractor and wrong mag springs but the pistol still fired when I pulled the trigger. Installing the new parts gave me better extraction and confidence. The only time I ever had an FTE problem was the second time to the range, after I had followed an Internet pictoral on "how to clean and lube a Steyr", which led me to gunk up the works. Once I went back to lubing it sparingly like I do my Glock it never happened again, even during the time I had the old parts in the pistol.

I eagerly anticipate that day, bac. With your collection and experience I would like to read how you compare the Steyr to the other fine 9mm handguns you've owned and shot.

Steyr's are great (and under appreciated) guns. Congratulations.

Congrats! These are as good as it gets in polymer frame pistols. Just realize that these are NOT Glocks and are built to a different standard. They have very tight tolerances and should be broke in with several hundred rounds. They also have fully supported and tight chambers(especially the 9mm's). In general, the 9mm's don't seem to like S&B or Federal UMC, but your mileage may vary. I have both an original M9 and M9A1 and wouldnt trade either of them for any other poly pistol, if that says anything. Better sights, fully supported chamber, designed from the ground up for the .40, standard land and groove rifling, tenifer finish, much tighter tolerances, far superior sights, superior trigger, lower bore axis and incredible ergos are just a few things that set it apart from it apart from the Glock. Wilhelm Bubits(who was on the original G17 design team)left Glock in 1997 and took his design for what would have been the next generation Glock, to Steyr. Obviously, Gaston was "satisfied" and didnt want to change more than grip textures(again), prompting Bubits to go across the street to Steyr. Bubits more recently went to the UAE to design the new "Caracal". If you google his name you can find some very interesting reading that most likely very few are even aware of.

I own a M40A1. I need someone to make 40-9 conversion barrel for me....or I just need to man up and get a M9A1.
