    Beware SkyNet.

    https://techcrunch.com/2018/09/06/robots-can-develop-prejudices-just-like-humans/?yptr=yahoo

“Our simulations show that prejudice is a powerful force of nature and through evolution, it can easily become incentivised in virtual populations, to the detriment of wider connectivity with others. Protection from prejudicial groups can inadvertently lead to individuals forming further prejudicial groups, resulting in a fractured population. Such widespread prejudice is hard to reverse,” said Cardiff University Professor Roger Whitaker. “It is feasible that autonomous machines with the ability to identify with discrimination and copy others could in future be susceptible to prejudicial phenomena that we see in the human population."

And that's why the machines will want to kill us. They're prejudiced.

Maybe machines will see things objectively and draw some troubling conclusions?

Maybe it is time for the machines.....................too many people I have worked with/for could be replaced with a cardboard cutout.

    They're already listening.

It seems like whatever I'm talking about out loud, will show up as the next ad notification that Amazon sends me on my phone.

Wait a minute, management was trying to make us all into robots. The robots are here first?

My sister says the same thing. Do you have a smart TV?, her grandson says it's the TV, IDK.

No smart TV/phone for me and I don't have the same issues she has.

Verizon is forcing us out of our old flip phones, 3G will no longer be supported....................I figured they were forcing us into 4G because it has better spy software.
You can't be too cynical these days.

My sister said she was talking with her daughter who had come to visit; face to face, not on a phone. The subject of strawberry cornbread came up; not a typical conversation, I am sure you would agree.

The next day there was an ad for strawberry cornbread mix on one of her computer pages; Yahoo mail IIRC.

No, we don't own a smart TV and don't even have a TV in the great room. But, we do have two laptops that are usually on, my wife has an iPhone, and I have an Android. So, I don't know if its Siri, Hey Google, or Cortana, but somebody is listening! (My bet is Google).

A week or two ago I was looking at watches on Amazon among other things. But within the hour of having a conversation about watches, an add for one showed up on my phone's lock screen from the Amazon app.

It just happened a couple days ago again, but I already forgot what the item was. something my son and I were talking about that I had not done searches for, but there it was on my phone.

    Kinda creepy.

But also a wonderful and gracious gift from our new Skynet AI overlords! :hugs::notworthy:

Edit: I forgot about the Kindle on the end table. Alexa is listening, too. I wouldn't want to offend one of the machines by omission.

If it's a natural product of evolution, does that make it useful for survival? :headscratch:

More than that, if it's natural then according to the logic of today, if that's "the way I was born" then no one is allowed to judge or condemn my prejudiced behavior because I'm just living out who I am. You must now tolerate, affirm, pass supportive legislation of, and otherwise celebrate any prejuditial attitudes I may have.

Oh, and charge anyone who doesn't like it with a hate crime for infringing on my innate sense of wellbeing.

Yrs back the camera, mic, speakers were plug in. I left them unplugged unless I was using them.
Now all I can do is tape over camera. It's too much work to try and disable mics.
