My wife and I have been wanting to get a dog forn the last couple of years. She wanted something small and I want a hunting dog. Neither one of us wanted a Beagle. I have been researching Mountain Feists and Curs of and on over the last few years.

It just so happened that the local shelter got in three 3 month old Feists. 2 male and one Female. The female was gone when we got there and we ended up with this little guy.

I think we're going to call him Bandit.

They are a Southern breed used for treeing squirrels. They'll also hunt rabbits and birds. Anyone hunt with one of these guys? Tips for training him to hunt?

Don't let him run too wild or he might cheat on you with the neighbor's dog. Then you'll have to ditch him. :whistling:

Thanks guys. Actually I dodged a big bullet by adopting that dog. My wife was looking on the internet at dogs with a price tag ranging from $1000-1500. :wow:

I suggested the humane society and oh look! Mountain Feists! An hour drive and $56 later our quest was accomplished.

The dog is working out very well. He seems to be very smart and is adjusting quickly. A very gentle, loving dog. I think we did good.
