Hopefull the Jury pool in Detroit knows what "nullification" means.

Not guilty by reason of insanity.

What sane person chooses to live in Detroit?

I don't think I responded in the other thread about this, so I'll do it here.
    Legally, he was wrong.
    Morally, he was wrong.

    That about covers it.

When the Police stop coming to the aid of the citizenry, what, exactly, are they supposed to do?

This reminds me of the orginial Robocop movie, which happened to be set in Detroit as well. Remember Eddie Van Halen's cameo?

at least Mr. Croff doesn't have to worry about having a "hate crime" added to the charges...

He was wrong...should have dropped the guy while he was still in his backyard.

On one hand good on him, one less criminal running the streets. But on the other hand, spank his wee wee for breaking the law. I see both sides and without hearing ALL the details from all sources I am on the fence.

So you're in favor of the citizenry chasing and shooting someone who isn't a threat? You really think people should be judge, jury and executioner when the police don't respond? Would a police officer have been justified if he did the same thing this man did?

Jesus Christ, the false bravado and swagger in this forum is hard to stomach sometimes.

No, I'm not in favor of vigilante justice, I asked a simple question. There's no false bravado going on here.

I do understand where the homeowner is coming from, I would, probably (depending on the totality of the circumstances), nullify the charges if I was sitting on the jury.

    But, that's beside the point.

What, exactly, do you propose the citizens in a neighborhood that the police have ceased to protect do to protect themselves or fight the lawlessness?

I'm not playing. You obviously think what the guy did was justifiable. I disagree.

I don't know EXACTLY what the citizens of that neighborhood should do, but I can tell you EXACTLY what they shouldn't do.

People who are going to take the law into their own hands need to learn to use a shovel.
