A place down the street from my last shop did vehicle armoring and they had a VW Golf that they armored for a client in Mexico. I don't know what level, but the logic was that the VW would be less likely to draw attention and allow the executive to commute without the added attention that your standard armored Escalade or Suburban gets.

I kinda look at it this way...if I'm going to get popped by the cartel, I don't want to get popped in a VW or a Kia. Armored limo or Escalade and make them earn it.

If I were a high roller, I wouldn't even notice a $12k bill for something. I'd up-armor every vehicle I own. Hell, I'd drive an armored golf cart like his Holiness. I'd even armor my kid's Peg Perego battery car.

The sad part is crime is so common in Brazils cities that these aren't marketed towards high rollers but average people

Someone just comes up to you during a traffic jam and robs you in the middle of the street:faint:

Phoenix is now the number 2 city in the world for kidnapping (second only to Mexico City).

The drug cartels have moved into AZ and are branching out into kidnapping for income. Yet another "benefit" of the war on drugs. Sad thing is now that the cartels are established it is too late to stop them by just ending the war on drugs (which is what fueled their rise). They will just increase kidnappings and robberies to make up for the loss in income.

We have made this bed with 40 years of well intentioned, but stupid and misguided drug policies and now we are going to have to lay in it.

All the horrors of Mexico are coming here. An armored car is starting to look like a good idea.

Before I read the thread I was going to ask how you planed on doing that. Were you going to take the radiator cap off and drive a Ford underneath it? :whistling:

    :tongueout:

Armor up a R32 Golf and one might still have a drivable car!

It's easier and cheaper to wear body armor instead of armoring the entire car. Windows will still be glass (don't think Kia will move with 3 tons of armored glass in it). If you're so worried about being shot, carry something to shoot back with.

I can imagine the scene now,

man was killed after his Ford F-250 overheated

looks like he's Found On the Road Dead
