My wife and I own some property in E.TX that I deer hunt on every year. While mowing this past week, I found four plastic, 50 gallon contractor garbage bags full of Marlboro butts, empty beer cans/bottles and other kitchen trash that someone dumped.

I put the bags into the back of my truck so I could dispose of them properly. Today, before the garbage man came, I looked into one bag just to see if the idiots did an idiot thing like throw away their mail.

Sho-nuf. It seems that the Anderson's not only have a tobacco and alcohol problem, they also are deadbeats. Go figure I know. There are a half dozen collection notices along with their electric bill in the stack of mail they left.

I really wanted to redeposit it back into their front yard, but I figured a illegal dumping fine would be a better alternative than an shootout. So I put a call into the Sheriff's office. I'm still waiting on a call back from someone.

Anyone know if they can still be fined even though they weren't caught in the act?

You called the cops because you found garbage in your yard?

Not saying they're in the right, but you need a hobby.

I would have called the po po too, no one has the right to dump trash on your land period, I would have took them back and dumped them back in his yard....

Probably not. Maaaaaaybe if you called and had the cops pick up the trash and go through it. They probably wouldn't have pursued it then either, though.

I said, "Yes, sir, Officer Obie, I cannot tell a lie, I put that envelope
    under that garbage."

After speaking to Obie for about fourty-five minutes on the telephone we
finally arrived at the truth of the matter and said that we had to go down
and pick up the garbage, and also had to go down and speak to him at the
police officer's station. So we got in the red VW microbus with the
shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed on toward the
    police officer's station.

Now friends, there was only one or two things that Obie coulda done at
the police station, and the first was he could have given us a medal for
being so brave and honest on the telephone, which wasn't very likely, and
we didn't expect it, and the other thing was he could have bawled us out
and told us never to be see driving garbage around the vicinity again,
which is what we expected, but when we got to the police officer's station
there was a third possibility that we hadn't even counted upon, and we was
both immediately arrested. Handcuffed. And I said "Obie, I don't think I
can pick up the garbage with these handcuffs on." He said, "Shut up, kid.
Get in the back of the patrol car."

I have called the cops on illegal dumping on my property..Once some turd dumped a few trash bags of carpet scraps, and like the OP, they had a trash bag with thrown away mail...
Come to find out it was a carpet installer who had worked on a house and had disposed of the trash..
    Not a wise move..
Missouri takes a hard stance on littering..up to 500 bucks for the offender..

I usually just take my bags of garbage and throw them into the neighbors front yard. I do the same with old sofas and electric stoves that don't work anymore.

Just go drive it back to the dealer BEFORE all the electronics start failing. No need to dump it at my house.

I haven't had an issue with any of my Audi's. What do you drive, if you want to make fun of my car?

I sure hope you never call the police to report trespass, robbery, vandalism, etc.

Why the hell would anyone NOT report a blatantly disrespectful act that happens to be against the law?

He didn't "find garbage" as in a few soda cans or newspapers that blew over. He found 4 50-gallon trash bags.

The neighbor's kid threw a candy wrapper on the ground and it blew into my front yard. I called the police and insisted they bring a SWAT team and some riot police. I advised them that he was armed with a candy bar and dangerous and malicious, and advised them to shoot on sight. I warned that if they didn't dispatch the entire precinct I would lodge a complaint for failing to protect my safety.

Did you just compare littering to robbery, tresspassing, and vandalism?

I'd go tell the neighbors to get their bags out of my yard. If they refused I'd toss it back into their yard. If they wanted to get violent THEN we could involve the cops and they could have a talk with the neighbors. The cops have better things to do than deal with someone littering in your yard.

    I REAP what YOU sow
here on my farm , it happens time to time , calls to local out in the sticks deputies results in no action , im guessing trying to catch folks speeding and hiding beside our local fire dept sign is more important ( even thou everyone knows they sit there and the times they sit lol )

so i just return to sender .
