I just wanted to share with everyone a couple of pics and little review of my new holster for my 27. I, like many of you were stumped on what type of holster to get. I have had and still have many guns but I never had a baby Glock. I wanted something that would obviously comfortable, have good retention and have good weight distrubution. I have heard many of you like Crossbreed and CompTac, but I never took the plunge into a $70 hybrid holster. Seeing that they are for the most part only available online only, it's hard for me to make that investment without a good fondling of the product. I went into a LGS that I had not been to before and they had several in stock!!! Picked it up and new right away this was going to be a good fit...

I had a week so far to wear it and I must say that I'm very glad I made the purchase. Good quality all around and VERY comfortable to wear all day long! I wear it just behind my hip at 4:00 and sometimes I feel like I just have to check to see if it's still there. I always thought by the pictures I see that it would somhow be kinda bulky. Not at all... I'm 5'8" 160lbs. and it conceals very well in a regular tshirt. Some of my other holsters require me to wear a shirt one size larger. Concealment to me is a HUGE issue for me since my job does not allow guns at work. (That's a whole nother thread) The clips are spread out far enough to distribute the weight very well... I just don't have anything bad to say about it. I am not affiliated with Crossbreed in any way shape or form... I'm sure other hybrid holster companys make a great product and I only wish I had bought one sooner.
Only downside I see is the clips with the big crosses on them... Kinda reminds me of the horrible Lone Wolf Cartoon on my conversion barrel! I don't mind though because the clips fit very snug to my belt and I'm not using this holster as a tuckable holster though I believe it is...

That's nice you were able to find one in your LGS. I have the same problem, I like to see it and hold it before I buy anything. I'm getting one soon as well, probably the Supertuck made of horse hide and with the combat cut. Glad to see you like it brother, enjoy!

Now, if you try the comp-tac then you might throw away the crossbreed - lol

There may be cheaper hybrids out there, but you can't go wrong with a Crossbreed. That kind of reliability is worth a few more bucks, to me.

To the original poster - I noticed that you are in FL, where was this LGS? I've had trouble finding anything other than an Uncle Mike's holster in a LGS. I would be willing to drive a bit to find a decent selection to look at up close before purchasing.

To one of the other posters - Is there really that much difference between the Crossbreed and the the other hybrid IWB holsters on the market or were you just joking when you said he would want to get rid of his holster in favor for another. I've always wondered if people really compared most of these holsters to one another or is it more of a case that people find one they like and they stick with it without really evaluating/comparing it to others.

Regardless, I appreciate the review and the pics. They will definitely help me decide on a new purchase.

I've tried to use a holster like this, but it is so darned WIDE. Why? The clips could be two inches closer to each other and still be stable. The holster I tried seemed like it was wrapping halfway around my body.
I don't understand all of this.
I use a holster with snaps on both sides, but the holster, in general, is quite narrow; no wider than necessary.
I prefer the Kramer IWB or the Milt Sparks IWB SSII.
I guess I'm out of the loop.

I ordered both a CompTac Spartan and a Supertuck at the same time for my G19. I knew I could sell either one at the range if I didn't like it. I got the CompTac within 2 weeks of ordering it so I wore that first and really liked it.When I got my crossbreed a month later I was able to compare both of them side by side.I stuck with the CompTac cause it is narrower than the Supertuck.Even the kydex body is narrower in width,Being a small guy( 30" waist) the Supertuck was like wearing half of a diaper.I stuck with the CompTac and love it.I even got a kydex body for my G21 so I can wear it in cooler weather. The Supertuck was sold two days later to a portly fellow.

I have one for my 30; very comfortable although I had to make the "combat" cut (I think that's what they call it) so I could get a good grip on the gun. I see now that several companies are making similar holsters for less money. (Galco King Tuk, available at Cabela's) I looked at one and they seem to be as good or better in quality.

Crossbreed makes the beefiest holster, way beefier than the white hat holster.

White hat for my M&P -

Crossbreed for my Glock 23-

The Crossbreed has thicker leather, and beefier clips. I found that the White Hat slides around more in the pants, and is overall flimsier.

Crossbreed has a superrrrrrrr long wait, or you can pay $25 and get it in 3 days.

White Hat will have your holster at your door within 8-10 days.

The LGS is called Guntech... Guntechinc.com is the website for them.

Hey Sonnytoo,
For me, the wider "stance" of the holster clips (don't own a Crossbreed, but talking in general for IWB) allows the holster to fit to the natural contour of my hip. so, with the wider "footprint", the holster can rest just behind my hip.
With narrower holsters, I have found that I was limited in exactly where I could place it, and didn't always end up in the best spot.
Wider also = better weight distribution=more comfortable.

That's what I have found...

I've heard that these holsters aren't any good for appendix carry, (I prefer to carry at about the 2o'clock position) is there any truth to that? I'm looking to start carrying my G27 more often but I need a more stable holster than the single clip set-up I have now because it has "popped" off my waist a couple times while carrying.

I've had a SuperTuck for years for my 1911s (full size and Compact), and never could get used to it. I'm 6', and weigh 230.

First thing I did was a Combat Cut (before it was an option), then I started reducing it's size to try to make it more comfortable. It helped, but I found that a High Noon Bare Asset was better for my circumstances. I wear business attire at work, and the Bare Asset held my 1911s closer to the body.

When I got the Glock, I needed something to get me by, so I modified the kydex to fit. It holds the gun securely, and it rides at the height that I like. It is carried at 4-oclock.

I still don't like the way it sits, but it will work for now, until I find one that works better. With the G19, I can probably remove a bit more leather along the bottom.

As it is configured, it matches the Theis very closely, when comparing it to pictures on his site.

One thing I did find is that the CBST works better with a full 1/4" thick gunbelt, at least for me.

I will also say, Crossbreed's Customer Service is excellent. When I broke one of the original plastic clips (years ago), they sent me a new set of the metal ones at no charge.

I got a KHolster instead of the Crossbreed.

Same quality holster. 1/2 the price. Faster shipping. Excellent customer service. Real metal clips sans the pious Christian cross marred all over them. Unfortunately, KHolsters will never catch on because they are a small secular company in the United States. All my carry guns are confidently snug in these particular custom holsters.

I am the same way - I tried a few "wide" double clip holsters - and they never felt right.

They are also a PITA to put on / take off -

I always end up back at the Don Hume IWB cheapo holster - on the left K&D Dakota - on the right Don Hume.

Thanks for your replies. The pictured holsters do look nice and stable, but they are too wide for my comfort. I prefer no greater width than necessary for stability.
I did purchase a high-dollar Brommeland Max Con V that is beautiful work, but it too is wide and I never wore it out of the house. It will have to go on the block pretty soon.
This is one of my Don Hume's that I butchered. It allows the G29 to sit much lower (to hide) and also I adjusted for some cant. I just got back from a trip of 1000 miles and it rode at 4:30 just fine all of the way...just short of touching the bucket seats in the car. I never felt the gun at all. This is my idea of a holster...
IMHO
