I bought a controversial revolver, but I sure like it.

    I recently bought a Chiappa Rhino 50DS in 357 magnum. It came with the medium walnut grip, but I felt a large one would better fit my hand, so I decided to buy the one that comes on the new Charging Rhino. I've been looking at these revolvers since their introduction, but never pulled the trigger on one. I haven't had any interest in any new firearms for quite awhile, so I decided to buy something unique.

    I have not fired this particular Rhino yet, but I have fired one before and really liked the way it shot. I know there are old complaints about the trigger being heavy, but that's not the case with this one. It has fiber optic sights front and back that pick up light very well. Everything seems solidly built and I'm looking forward to taking this to the range which I should be doing soon. Afterwards I'll post in this thread about the accuracy and any other experience I had.

    Anyone else have a Rhino and how do you like it? Also, if there are any complaints or praises about these guns, please acknowledge if it's from personal experience or second hand and when in time that experience happened.

    Love me some unique firearms. All those G19 are getting very old.

    Enjoy your new gun!

    I’ve shot a couple.
    They are definitely different. I’m
    Not a fan, but many people love them.

    Congrats on your purchase. :cool;

    Definitely ugly, but glad you like it. It does make me want to get a S&W R8, the only revolver I would like to own someday.

    I actually like the sci-fi look of the Rhino. It's probably why it's used in more than a few Sci-Fi movies and shows. I like the LCR for the same reason as well, although I still love the classic revolvers too.

    What else does Chiappa actually manufacture?

    The first thing I noticed when holding one was how light it was despite it's size due to it's construction.

    Owned an early model approx. 5 yrs ago...liked the concept and the low bore axis tamed the 357 considerably...BUT...mine shot so low, I had to return it to Chiappa and ask them to fix the sights to shoot POA, POI..or check for a bad barrel...got a snarky letter back saying it shot fine for them...not parading my virtues, but I was practically weaned on revolvers, carried one on duty for decades..I know when there is a problem with the platform...so, it is no longer in my stable and I hope their CS has improved...perhaps your experience will be more positive...

    Interesting. I put a laser bore sight in it as soon as I got it home like I do with all of my firearms and I did have to center it, but that's it. Not the first time I've had to do that with a new firearm, but if it's way off I'll be sure to post about it here.

    I recently bought a 40ds in 357 and I like it. Mine seems fairly accurate. I installed the larger grip and it feels much better in my hand.

    I also like my other sci-fi blaster as well. Too bad it's only a replica. I know of the one guy that made a live fire version that has a video of it on YouTube, but I'd pay to have a real live fire version of this one made. :D
