Got here yesterday. It's beautiful, but I know chaos can strike at any moment. :p

Went for a 5 mile beach run at sun up. It was awesome and I feel like the luckiest guy on the planet right now. Too bad all the fine ladies are probably back at college. I will keep my eyes open.

Looks nice. I’ve lived in Florida all my life and have never been there.

Mom and Dad used to drive us kids in the back of the suburban with the seats removed, all the way from East Texas. It was our summer vacation for 15 years or so.

Boy it's changed so much....as a kid I I remeber how it was more like a fishing community. Hardly any chains. Wish it was still like that, bit it's still very nice.

Went there once for spring break when I was in college...back in probably 2009. It was madness. Too much for me really, I was ready to go home after day 2. Several people fell off balconies and died the week I was there.

I don't really like big crowds either

We’ve been there a few times and enjoyed it. When we drive for a vacation Destin and Myrtle Beach are both great destinations.

We were there at the end of May.
Did you try the key lime pie at the Donut hole? Best key lime pie I've ever had.

We tried Margaritaville but the best food we had was at Slick Lips at the Sandestin beach and golf resort where we stayed.

And the Katrina destruction. Tyndall AFB was evacuated. A lot of damage.
Miller’s Ale House for prime ribs, Destin. Special on Mondays if I recall. Destin our January stomping ground.

There was a bar there called the back door, or at least there was.. used to have some great looking women. You might see if it still exists.

I lived in Destin in 1967-1968 when the only motel on Okaloosa Island was a 2-story Holiday Inn on the eastern side of the no-stoplight town. Rented a rusty trailer from charter boat captain Buck Melvin. Went back in '85 to see friends in the area and it was totally overrun by massive international hotel chains, beach condos, and private homes. The 1940-style Florida Girl motel, owned by the Marler Family, was still there and was where I lived when I first arrived and smack dab in the center of all the massive high rise structures. I'm sure the family owned most of the Destin real estate by the time the masses discovered NW Florida and left the motel as is for a testament to their foresight and good fortune. There was not a single man-made structure anywhere on Navarre Beach in those days, save for refuse barrels at regular intervals along the road. Nothing ruins a place like success.

Stationed at Eglin AFB for 3 yrs back in the 90s. Loved it then, probably a little more crowded now.
