I turned in my stuff to the SO the other day, found a job in the private sector and after 24 odd years or so I think I have had enough. The benefits get worse every year, the pay doesn't improve..... I have had enough of government service. I got myself a private sector job as a narcotics auditor that gave me a 50 % pay raise and way better health benefits for the whole family.

    and no more night shift.

With 24 years, are you eligible for retirement, then?

well, no. I worked 17 years in Oklahoma, then moved to Virgina and have been working here about 6 and a half, so I am not vested in Virgina. I was vested in Oklahoma and I have my retirement money invested. I would have had to get 25 years in with Virginia's retirement system and that would have made me 67 years old by the time I was eligible, so I didn't really think it was a good idea to stay around for another 19 years.

Congrats, and best of wishes. Unfortunately, I suspect that more of us on both sides of the fence will very likely follow suit in the years to come.

Get out while you still can and good luck to you! I'm guessing you're working for a pharma company now?

Hope you will still send me a copy of the 8 Codes if you ever find them. I might even post them. Russ would have a field day.

Welcome back to being a citizen again.

Enjoy having your Rights and privileges back. You will likely have questions and thoughts. Don't be reluctant to share them with other retired folks. We are here to ease your return back.

Thanks for fighting the good fight. You did well and have cemented the title of 'Cop' once and for all. It can never be taken from you now.

    :cop: :patriot:

I'm just glad I made it far enough along to be LEOSA qualified. I don't think they would give me a CCP.:)

I've got a feeling that Bullman will take it as the joke I intended. Just a hunch mind you.

No wonder you had to retire early, if you dislike police food. Lol

Think of this place as a constant ball busting session in roll call...... Well and maybe some serious stuff here and there.....
