Well, NOAA.GOV says its cone of probability is currently showing it might be a hurricane hitting the East coast of FL maybe Monday afternoon. Lots of ifs, ands, or buts, between now and then. I'm not too worried about it, but will keep an eye on things. If the track firms up some more I may start putting up the shutters on Saturday, just to get a jump on it. I got a couple of fillable blivets I can use, but other than that I'm GTG.

    Ammo-wise I'm ready.

I'm in central Florida and not too worried. Up here, we will most likely get the leeward side of the storm. I am fairly well stocked up for a disaster... I will fill some 5gal jugs with water and I'll be good to go.

Just a cat 1. We used to still go out to eat during cat 1's back when places would stay open. No big deal.

I don't bother putting up my storm shutters for a puny one like that. I've gone for a walk in 90-100mph winds.

I, on the other hand, will get up all the lawn furniture and do whatever I can at three different houses, just in case. And we are nowhere near the projected path.

I've seen this before, if there is a named storm I'm getting ready.

We are in South FL. Got hit with a lot of rain yesterday. The media has sensationalized weather, so everything is panic mode and trumped up beyond belief. MEGA STORM! POLAR VORTEX!

    I'll get my flip flops

One time we had a hurricane roll through which didn't drop any rain, only lots of wind. George, maybe it was? I thought I was a hot **** teenager and hopped on my cruiser and took it across all the bridges with high winds. Surprise, so did every other motorcyclist. I've never seen to many bikes leaning at 45 degrees going straight before. Kinda funny.

Anyways, what I'm getting at here is we don't give a ****. There probably won't even be a run on plywood and water.

It's the same story in my part of the world--what used to be just an ordinary snowstorm is now preceded with dire warnings of imminent disaster instead of predicting good skiing.

My son is supposed to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the PawSox game on Friday. I'm betting we are 50/50 for a rainout if Florida gets hit on Tues/Wed.

Stay dry, folks. At least it isn't 6' of snow.

Normal preps always remain in place.
I'll just make fresh ice cubes, pick up a few groceries.

We already had our flood of the century earlier this month, the mud isn't even dry yet.
The creeks and ponds have finally dropped back a little below the tops of the banks, so it wouldn't take too many inches to create another flood. Traffic gets impacted.

I just hope the AC keeps running during the hurricane parties. :drowning:

The media wants you to skip work, stay home, and watch TV all day. It's good for ratings.

You can almost see the deflation and disappointment in the local media personalities. They were really enjoying this one. They had pictures of Andrew destruction in the background and everything.

Oh, has it already downgraded to boring? :(

Take that same example and use it on the economy and stock market. They are DISAPPOINTED when disaster doesn't strike. What does that tell you? You shouldn't watch cable news. Ever. For anything.

    Right?

We used to call it "cold weather".

It usually happens in the winter.
