I dont think it has hit the news wires yet but the deal with Hummer and China fell through. Doesnt look like there will be a Hummer brand anymore.

I just wish they offered the H3 with a V8 and a manual transmission. Stick shifts are out there, but only with the lowly I5.

My sons Power Wheel would probably do better in a crash test than that. I hear the Chinese build some superdy craptastical cars.

I'm pretty certain the entire purpose of this thread is the breaking news that their WILL BE NO CHINESE HUMMER..reading is what you do when you want to learn.

True, the civilian models (any of them) are nothing like the Humvee the military uses...those things are beasts off-road. The "Hummer" was just a fad, I'm surprised it lasted this long.

I was wondering how that got off track so quickly, that is a GT record.

Hummer says no more Hummers for you (not even Chinese ones), that is all.

I took it to mean he could still get a Chinese BJ(hummer) at the local parlor.

    original hummer = perfection

first civilian hummer = damn good

second and further civilian hummer models = crap

The hummer originally was perfect. What happened to it over the years in the civilian market is what happens when you try to fix something that isn't broken. They took something perfect and turned it into crap. Made it become some expensive luxery suv.

Back in the day when you thought of a hummer, what came to mind was the idea that if any vehicle short of a tank could get you there, the hummer was it.

The original ones will take a beating and laugh about it. I am glad the deal with china fell through. At least the hummer name can die with whatever little dignity it has left after the civilian market trashed its image/name.

Chinese-made hummers would have just been the final disgrace.

I'm glad the deal fell through, but not because I think Hummer should die. I think it's quintessentially american, and should be revived here.

I'd like to see a turbo diesel version with oversize fuel tanks, and suspect you wouldn't hate it either. It wouldn't take MUCH R&D to make it the anywhere vehicle that'd be a Land Rover killer, it never was intended to be a town car.

And shouldn't be. But say in Montana or Idaho? heh..
