My guess is the computer recognizes an unauthorized user. Maybe an age bias in there or something.

I bet it has more to do with that baby boy sweater his mommy bought him than the color of his skin.

we can't expect CNN to report real news.

and as far as the paranoid snivelers are concerned, EVERYTHING but them is "racist"

I think it would be beneficial for more people to read the entire CNN article before getting all bent about the intent of the video's creators.

The only people here screaming "racist" are people who don't understand technology and, specifically, fairly "young" technology.

It's a lighting issue, not a race issue. And, aside from the headline designed to get people to read the article CNN was very clear about that.

The technology only recognizes whole persons, not 3/5 of a person.

Seriously, that video is pretty funny. At least the guy is crying 'racism' with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

So, if you watch them too much, you're racial profiling, but if you don't watch them enough, you're still racist?

    My guess,

Uses a contrast algorithm (background/foreground) to identify faces.

Some developer probably assumed that the background would always be darker. Bad assumption. Bet it wouldn't track the white woman either if she was in a room with bright white walls.

The real question is: Who wants their webcam to follow them around? That's creepy and Terminator-ish, IMHO.:tongueout::supergrin:
