Looks like progress is being made !
Letters of Marque.
Uhhhh... it looks like this dude in the 3rd picture has a tramp stamp of two little hands...
What they REALLY need is some tripod mounted M2 50cal machine guns, and hand grenades.
Where does one apply to hang out on a ship sporting an AK-47?
Doesn't matter as each of these mercenaries make a million dollars a piece per trip.
My thought exactly, I would want a mounted full auto for shooting off a moving and rocking ship.
Pretty lame security, according to the photos. Just some concertina wire, single strand, and 3 dudes with some rusty AK's.
For a million dollars per head, I would of expected some .50 cal sniper rifles and at least some gun towers on the stern and bow of the ship.
There was one video showing some security detail taking out some Somali pirates, that was cool.
One million per head x 3 'security professionals' (at least from what I saw is 3 million. I can't see ANY business model being able to afford that on a consistent basis. I would venture to guess that it is more like a few hundred bucks a day.
Plus, rusty AK's? Geez man, if this is your 'job' then at least bring some decent equipment. It looks like those rifles have been kept under the Captain's mattress for the last 10 years. What's their sidearm, a Hi Point?
Where do you get this info. from? I have never heard of a contractor making this much money.
No they don't.
Depending on the size of the ship to be protected, need to have interlocking fields of fire.
I would the imagine that they run the risk of having all weapons confiscated every time they make port. With that in mind, I believe they are opting for "cheap but reliable" in case they have to relenquish them or throw them overboard.
I'm thinking claymore mines attached to the hull just above sea level every 20' or so that can be remotely triggered.
Nah, outwardly facing pneumatic actuators. Less messy and instantly reusable.
