I have looked around and even read Brownell's article on grip reduction and beavertail mods. I'm still not sure what's the best way to proceed! Brownell recommends using Acragel for the grip filler and for the base material for the beavertail.

    1. Is there a better material to use other than Acragel?

    2. I read that Robar inserts metal into their beavertails. Is this a needed addition?

    3. I'm wanting to heat stipple the finished gun. I'm assuming that I will need to Duracoat the frame to cover the beavertail and frame reduction areas, or am I wrong?

Any additional links to how it's done and recommendations, would be appreciated!

Also search here for "grip reduction" or "stipple" or "stippled"

Why! why! why! Even the "pro" jobs make me wanna puke.

Flame away, but if this post saves one perfectly good Glock frame from being destroyed, it is worth it.

I've used Acragel to add a beavertail on my Glocks. Worked great for me. It comes with a pack of black dye and you only use a couple of drops. Just follow the directions given on the Brownells site and take your time. I think they recommend using truck bed liner if you go all the way and do a grip reduction but I've never tryed that.

I wouldn't do a filler type reduction. It just affects the integrity of the frame too much. Search for the candle heat method of shaping the backstrap hump. Much better IMO.

What you are saying is purely BS. We have done well over 1000 guns that way and have had no problems yet.
