This is always a problem for those with camps in the woods of Maine. Lot of idjits think that a remote cabin is an easy target to find some pretty neat stuff while enjoying the peace and solitude of the great outdoors. Usually involves a lot of Bud Light and then trashing the camp before leaving.
Glad these ones were caught, and hope they get the book thrown at them....I always wonder what actually constitutes "criminal mischief". I don't want my own mischief to cross the line and get me into trouble with the law.

Three men facing charges after breaking into camp

T3R7, Maine (WABI) - Three men are facing charges after breaking into a camp on the Seboeis River.

Police say 24-year-old Stephen Stimpson, 24-year-old Aaron Collette both of Bangor, and 23-year-old Alex Morneault of Brewer were arrested and charged with Burglary, Trespass, Theft, and Criminal Mischief.

Officials say a camp owner and its caretaker found the three men at the camp Saturday morning.

We're told the caretaker held the three men in the driveway at gunpoint until troopers arrived.

Police say the men broke the doors to the camp and an out building and that some items were removed from the camp and found outside.

All three men were taken to the Penobscot County Jail.

State police ask that anyone with information on any of these crimes to call them at 532-5400.

Criminal Mischief, in a lot of jurisdictions, is a catch all statute, certainly allowing subjectivity on the part of the Po Po, that basically means "you were up to no good ".

Mostly a misdemeanor charge, the Judge gets to tell you that you're stupid.

The FAA has a statute like that: FAR 91.13 Careless and reckless operation. That gets added to every violation.

In Texas the term equates with vandalism. Just tearing property up.

"We're told the caretaker held the three men in the driveway at gunpoint until troopers arrived."

The caretaker held them at gunpoint for burglary and trespass, until the cops arrived????

Sounds reminiscent of another incident that has been in the news lately.

Good thing these three innocent joggers didn't attack the caretaker and punch him in the head and try to take away his gun, or the caretaker might be facing felony murder charges now!

These three innocent joggers were simply jogging through the camp and cabin! They weren't doing anything wrong. They were just admiring the construction.

The caretaker stalked and hunted and cornered them! It's disgraceful!!!

I demand an immediate GBI investigation into the caretaker's reckless and possibly criminal behavior in detaining and threatening these three innocent joggers with his gun.

Breaking in the door, items removed to outside and damage. Sounds more like they were caught in the act and held. A little different than maybe, could of, might be or looks like "Boom-Boom". But hey, never let a good :deadhorse: go to waste......

Breaking in the door, items removed to outside and damage.

As they were jogging through the camp, they had to break the door because it was in the path of their jogging.

Once the door was broken, they realized that the cabin had a lot of stuff in it.

To make amends for breaking the door, the joggers decided to help the owner with his spring cleaning by moving all of his stuff outside.

The damage was unintentional.

GBI needs to investigate this mean and reckless caretaker who likes pointing his gun at joggers who are just minding their own business.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about...

The GBI has no jurisdiction in Maine! Is there an MBI?
