How much would you pay for a well used and damaged G19?

I'll just start off the question with the fact that I have a G23 and want a 9mm conversion barrel. By the time I buy an unmarked LW barrel and have it blackened I am looking at $135 plus shipping.

Local shop has a very early G19. It is beat to death. It is the first 2nd gen style with the model number stamped into the trigger guard.

The front sight is gone. The internals all need upgrading. The frame has several cracks and chunks missing from the strong side magwell area. This probably came from being a carry gun. The frame looks unsafe and if I shipped it to Glock I know they would not return it. The slide and barrel are appealing because they would convert my G23 to 9mm in the best way possible.

I already have all the upgrade parts on hand and plenty of sight sets. What should I do?

    Buy a G23 conversion barrel for $135?
Buy the used G19 for $300 and salvage the upper?
Buy the used G19 for $300 and send to Glock for a new frame for $??? Are they free?
Buy a new LE G19 for $409 with 3 mags?

From how you described it, there is no way it is worth $300.

I'd love to see high quality close up pictures of that G19.
What is the date code on it?

I'd give no more than a hundred for it!

    +1

    No way!

See if you can get it for way less, given all that it needs.

I know. I see uppers going for $250+ on gunbroker and was just wondering that if I bought it for the upper would there be anything to do for the frame? Would it be worth it to bother?

If it was salvaged as easily as possible it would at a minimum need a G26 mag, a Pearce PG-2733, and a grip chop mod.

Since a conversion barrel I want is going to cost me $135 I figured I would go back and offer him $250 for the gun to get the barrel and slide with any small parts that may be salvagable.

I know that Glock would "upgrade" everything else for free. What would they do to the frame?

No great suggestion here but I would not pay $300 for a beat to death gun when one in great shape can be had for not much more. New w the GSSF certificate. Or just keep shopping for another used one in better shape.

    Edit. Upon re-read. Option four.

Get the new G19 if you have the money. If not get the barrel. That gun sounds too beat to mess with.

Internals are cheap and easy to replace. That will cost you about 25-30 bucks in parts.

The frame is probably going to cost you $150 bucks to replace from Glock. You'll end up with a 3rd-Gen frame, not a 2nd-Gen.

You're likely going to have to replace the magazines or at least the internals. Figure another 25-50 bucks there.

You're looking at $250 bucks to get it in good running order, assuming the barrel and slide are in good shape. A new Glock will cost you $400 bucks.

    I wouldn't offer more than $150.
