    I normally do 20%. I figure it's not their fault I don't want to dine in.

    What about you? What's customary for takeouts? 15%? 25%?

    If I pick it up, i dont usually tip. If it is delivered or if I dine in, then I tip very generously.

    To be honest I don't. they are just handing over food. when I dine in, I, along with my GF are very generous tippers. 20%+

    I can see this thread, like most on GT involving tipping, turning into a pissing match. lol.

    Take out = nothing
    Dine in = atleast 20%

    It all depends on service.

    If it is a counter type place a couple dollars. If it is a regular sit down restaurant I could see 15% if I got take out although I don't remember ever getting take out at a place with servers. A place with servers would have to have a glass or two of wine or some interesting beer on
    the take out menu along with someone cute to sashay around at home bringing me stuff to want their take out.

    Nothing for take out.
    For dine in, my water should never get below half full, requested items should be brought promptly and the server should be engaging, that gets 20+%. Less, then I tip less.

    I patronize the same restaurants for carry out frequently, so I know the bartenders who take care of me. I also have a beer while I'm there. My tip is around 20%, which for nice dinners is no small amount.

    I get very good service from the folks who handle my carry out. They check the food to verify the kitchen got my order right. They check if my order is taking too long. They just look after my order like it's important. And, they occasionally serve me a tall Sam Adam's Boston Lager on the house.:drink:Tipping matters.

    15 to 20%.

    Tend to patronize the same places. I want to be known as good to staff. I usually NEVER have to wait, get regular extras, etc.

    Works for me.

    Take out = Nothing
    Buffet = Nothing,
    Delivery = $5.
    Dine in = 20% depending on the service. I'm very big on customer service. I have left as little as $1. service was so bad. Never went back either.

    I always tip at least 20%. More if they are especially sweet. Those folks work hard for a living.
