I just acquired an M1A super match. What kind of differences besides the weight should I expect between this one and more standard m1A?

Super match is bedded with rear lugs, has a much better trigger, hooded rear sight, NM front sight, medium heavy barrel, unitized gas cylinder. I would be unhappy if a super match shot groups larger than 1 inch at 100 yards with match ammo, I would be happy if a regular M1A shot less than 2 inches at the same distance. A Super match should also not string shots up, down or sideways as the barrel heats up. I don't have a Super match, but I do have a NM, and it is a great shooter.

Got it in trade. Don't think the guy knew what he had and neither did I until I felt how heavy it was.

Now I need to decide whether it is gonna be a keeper or a seller.

It's gonna have to be a lot. Better than my standard m1a

Best thing to do is reload for her. The federal match ammo is good, but reloads are better. Good luck with her.

Agree with above, but didn't exactly "nail it"... dont forget the action is bedded under tension in a heavier than rack grade stock and the flash hider is reamed to .437" inside so if you shoot it in the rain a rain drop wont affect the bullet. The gas plug is drilled with a small hole and the op rod is NM. Headspace is zero to .001" and the op rod guide is special longer NM. Many so called "Super Matches" do not have a rear lug.
