I just put a 32 gig sd card in my 16 mp Nikon any idea how many pictures it will hold?
Thousands and thousands of very low quality compressed images.
Or 1 really, really large image.
Surprised it doesn't give you a number, but:
5,500 to 6,000 give or take a few hundred, if compressed.
550-600 if RAW.
4GB card, at highest-quality-image setting for your camera: 620 images (page 58 of the .PDF manual for the S6100).
At second-highest image quality: 1060 images.
32GB is about 8 times larger than a 4GB card (some space is lost to file management system, etc.), but multiplying by 8 will get you close to the capacity for a 32GB card.
Highest quality: 4960 images
Next highest quality: 8480 images
As you shoot, the photos will be grouped into folders of 200 image files, so once you pass 200 photos on the card, the images will be broken-up into multiple folders (only important if you are directly accessing the folders on the card with your computer, vs. using a photo/image downloading program).
