I have never run out of .380 in a running gun battle with urban youth, so I'm good with 6+1. On rare occasions I will carry a spare mag, knowing full well that its only there to make me feel like James Yeager and not because I will ever have to throw down a tactical reload at Chic Fil A. But I hold no animosity to those who hit the streets heavy with 2 or more extra mags.

1 mag. More for a failure than an extended firefight. If I'm going somewhere where I feel I might need more than that I generally opt for more gun.

I never carried a spare mag but RUGER came out with a Factory 7 round mag for the LCP II, so now I carry my LCP II with 7 + 1 but still no back up mag! I'm just old school and just too old to change my habits! Maybe I will throw a extra mag in my pocket some day or not!

Documentation of Magazine swaps during a civilian self-defense event in the USA is essentially non-existent. Carry extra Magazines if you believe the fantasy of exhausting and swapping Magazines during a civilian self-defense event. That happens only in movies and on TV.

Documentation of magazines causing auto loaders to fail however isn't a movie make believe. As a matter of fact it's a primary reason.

Do what you like but understand not everyone gives much of **** about Hollywood and more about reality.

No spare mags for me, just a MagGuts+1.

My wife carries two G42's, one IWB and the other in her concealed carry purse.

Her mags are also MagGuts equipped, but she doesn't carry a spare mag either.

Always, always carry at least one spare mag. It's just so easy to drop it in a pocket, and ya just never know when ya might need it.

When I carry my G42, I carry 7+1 rounds in the gun with MagGuts and additional 8 rounds in a spare mag with Vickers +2. It is not just for additional rounds of ammo, but also for any unexpected situation (e.g., dropping the mag in the gun; malfunction that may require a magazine change, etc.)

How about documentation of a magazine being expended during a civilian self-defense event in the USA? If that civilian did not carry an additional magazine, then of course there would be no documented magazine swap. Yet if they did carry an additional one, there may have been a magazine swap. The denominator is different from what you assume and therefore the argument is flawed.

As with most other things, it depends. I carry one extra mag with my G43. When carrying a G17 it's no extra mag.

    2 is 1.
    1 in None.

Or so I have been told by my Ranger friends.

I carry an ETS 12-rounder that I download to 11. My carry system is friendly to a spare of such length. I used to have a ProMag 10-rounder, but it was not as reliable as ETS, so I switched when those became available. However, I cannot tell if shorter ETS magazines are any good. I heard both good and bad. I know that I can trust the 12-rounders, because of the use in competition. The 9-rounders seem okay, in limited testing. And since I converted all my Glock 42 to G42K, I cannot even insert the ETS 7-rounder.
