How many books have you read in the last 12 months?

I have noticed a trend lately where I am reading fewer books.

After college, I probably averaged between 1 and 2 books a week most of my life until the last few years.

Lately two things seem to be happening at the same time. I read fewer books and I tend to have two or three going at the same time and it takes maybe a few months or more to get through them.

Just wondering how others are doing, more or less as time goes on?

I embarrassing admit that I have never read a book. Had the ADHD as a kid and never got into reading. One of my true regrets.

I'm down to half a dozen a year, maybe a few more. When I read books they are all on Kindle now. Most of my reading is articles on the internet.

It's hard to give an accurate answer. I read less books, but don't actually read any less because internet. I've found that with the advent of online forums, I spend more time on them than with books. Books are good and all, but they were only written once. There is an inherent fascination with reading new posts and communicating in real time on discussion forums that can't be denied; in simpler terms, there is always something new and interesting to read on here, after you separate the wheat from the chaff (germaine, discussion-promoting posts vs one-sentence bumper stickeresque talking points and sound bites.)

I still read books at work, though. I'm probably the only weirdo I know that still actually drives to the library to check out books; the guys I work with consider "quality literature" to be the captions under the pictures in the off-road mags.

I'm currently reading Pale Horse Coming by Stephen Hunter, which is the second Earl Swagger novel. Great series of books, I highly recommend them. It's really refreshing to read literature by an author who actually knows what he's talking about when it comes to firearms, and doesn't say stupid crap like "Colt 50mm" or "put the safety on the Glock".

If I had to put a number on them, I'd estimate 20-25 books this year, to answer the original question.

20 or 30 for this past year. I read electronics books, cheaper.

I have read many books per year since grade school. I have to be careful otherwise all I do is read.

Interesting, thanks for the detail. I have been wondering if the time I spend on the internet and also the change in format (jumping around to shorter format subject matter) maybe is changing my attention span (or maybe better said, attention span habits).

Well over a hundred. I love my local library and keep a lost of books on hold as they are released. Nut in the last few months I have noticed I have slowed down from one a day to two or three a week. Kind of suprised me until I realized .....I have a red headed girl friend .

They are more fun than books

According to my Amazon Kindle account, 74.....

I've pretty much read one or two books a week for most of my adult life.

It is absolutely not too late to start. There are ton of awesome action books out there that will hold you attention.

I used to read at least 1 book a week but now I probably read about 1 book a month. Too many distractions in modern life, especially the Internet

I used to average one a day.

I have probably read two in the last year. Both of those were special occasions, otherwise it would have been zero.

I love reading, but I burned out on novels and my non-fiction reading is all online. I miss books, but I am still reading.

I read at least a book per week but some of that has been re reading stuff like old Louis L'amour novels. I can spend hours online reading but I don't really like reading on my Kindle.

None, but I have read thousands and thousands of pages of case law, pleadings, and briefs.
