OK... owing to a persistant sale at my LGS, I have ended up with far more weaponry than any one person rationally needs..which means I am just one short of what is required.

Anyway, I have been keeping them stored in their factory boxes but this makes it a little difficult to figure out what I have - all Glock boxes look the same and how does one tell a Gen3 23 from a Gen4 23 by the box???

is there some really wizard organizational system I am missing?

And I don't have a safe, but owing to my recent acquistiions, I need to start looking for one.

I keep mine in my gun cabinet stored in the boxes they came in, my CCWs I keep in a quick access safe stored in holster.

Screw keeping your guns in their boxes. I bought my Glocks so that I can use them when I need to. I didn't buy them so they could sit in a box for the rest of my life, otherwise I'd let them sit in a box at the gun store for free.

Keep them loaded and ready to go. Loaded and readily accessible in a safe if you need to.

Non carry/HD handguns are kept in fabric pouches called Bore-Stores inside the safe. I put a label on each Bore-Store for quick ID of the contents. The boxes the pistols came in are all in storage, I don't use them and they would take up too much room in the safe.

... in the safe, some in their factory boxes, some sitting on the shelves, loaded and ready to go.

I also use my Brother label maker to label the side of each factory box- Glock 20- 10MM, Glock 17L- 9MM, etc. When I go to the range, all of the boxes are in my range bag (duffle bag), with the labels up where I can read them. Easier to tell which is which.

    Hope this helps.

All non carry weapons are in my main safe (Fort Knox), my carry is either on me, or locked in a bedside safe..no exceptions with kids in the house.

My Ed Brown 1911 is in my safe with 8 loaded magazines.

My Glocks are spread out throughout my house in hidden locations.

I also keep spare mags in each room for fallback.

No wife or kids to deal with so I do have that luxury.

Safe, without boxes. My bedside gun stays in a quick access safe, right on the night stand, along with a flashlight and a spare mag. .

At the ready. Locked and loaded. I am a collector on paper, but not in practice. Makes it easy, for me.

Get a safe! I have a Liberty Fatboy and a couple of Gunvault pistol safes strategically located in the house. The gun boxes/cases are stored separately. I wouldn't keep them in cases. I want to see them whenever I open my safe.

All my guns and ammo sunk with the titanic. You know, I used to keep them in a Delorean I bought from some crazy scientist but then I got thrown back in time on the titaniC and they where all lost. I'm still trying to get Geico to believe me. What do I do, for the love of beautiful Easter Bunnies, WHAT DOOOO IIIII DOOOOOO????

I store them in their cases in my safe.
