I've started to notice that my laptop has quite a bit of crap underneath all the keys. What's a safe way to clean it? It's about 2 or 3 years old and has never been cleaned.

    Thanks;c

Take these steps at your own risk:

    1) Turn the notebook over and remove the indicated 4 screws marked with a 'K' including one that might be marked 'K/M'.

    2) Turn the notebook back over and you can lift the keyboard gently from the right side by inserting a flat object (not sharp) under the 'blank key' and raising it - be carefull with the flex cable under the keyboard.

    3) Tilt the keyboard so the crumbs fall out, and whatever else you might think of to get the stuff out.

I don't know if this is Kosher, but I regularly sweep my keyboard with the vacuum cleaner using the soft brush attachment, it keeps things pretty clean, also you can used canned air.......make sure the computer is off when you use either of these methods. oh yeah, be sure to turn the laptop over and sweet out the cooling fan thingy, I can't believe how much dust gets in there.

I use air from a scuba compressor and a diffuser gun…Gently spray the keyboard off from an angle never directly..

I take my laptop with me everyday to work and it goes through hell, bangs around in my van and in the properties I work on…

The air seems to work well on keeping crud out of it…

    1) Put the hand wash basket into the washing machine
    2) insert laptop
    3) fill washer with warm water and add soap
    4) run permanent press cycle
    5) spin dry

    It is done! ;P
