I've been trying to think of a way to capture sound bites from a dvd played back thru my DVD drive. There are some movie quotes etc., I'm interested in. I think there must be a way to do it but haven't figured it out yet. Help anyone...?

    The way I do it...

Step one, download a program called Audacity, it's free, it's good, it's open source.

    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Step two, open audacity, and at the top right where it probably says "Microphone" In a drop-down box... click there, and select "Stereo Mix".

Step three, click the record button (red round one ;)).

Audacity should then be recording all sounds made on the computer, and all you should need to do is start playing the dvd where you wish to record.

Editing can be easily accomplished with the mouse and delete key, if it doesn't work, try checking the volume settings on the top right, or in the preferences under "Audio I/O".

    Good luck.

Thanks - I thought Audacity might be the answer but I haven't tried what you suggested.
