For me, M-F is my schedule, Thursday builds to Friday- happy time! Sunday's have a restrained, relaxed feel; Mondays are back to the grindstone.
How do you let go and open up your rigid day-feel schedule to make any day what you want it to be without feeling off kilter?

I take a 30-45 minute walk around downtown. Sometimes I get stopped by citizens and we chat or sometime I run into their dogs and we have a chat. I get to know the coverage area of the FD better than anyone, I talk with our citizens, and I'm exercising.

    I enjoy it immensely.

My schedule is kinda nuts. It rotates, but it still sucks (in comparison to the rest of society.

    I'm off:

    • Saturday/Sunday
    • Sunday/Friday
    • Wednesday/Thursday
    • Monday/Tuesday
    • Satur...
What makes it worse, as you can tell, is the fact that I get one weekend off a month. My wife takes call every other week, so we, essentially, get 6 weekends outta the year if nothing "odd" comes up.

It seems like every day sucks just as much as the one before it.

I want a new job. I NEED to get my resume up to speed. I'm actually getting tired of this ****.

I sing "It's Raining Men" out loud when the alarm clock goes off.

I don't know why, but it wakes me up.

    Hallelujah!

(I'm a road warrior. Sometimes I wake up, not knowing where I am, and think to myself "OK. I'm home in bed and don't have to work today ".)

    -or-

("OK. Detroit reeks. " (you know they burn **** at the Water and Sewer plant))

And, I don't know why I sing that song to myself...

(One of the KISS trucks tipped over on the interstate in Detroit a week or two ago, in the early morning. They said a lot people got souvenirs.

    So....

Then I do a Triple Lindy.

Honestly, my hardest days of the week are the weekends when I am not working. I help with the kids during the day and wife usually has all sorts of stuff planned. By Sunday, I cannot wait to get back to work.

When I travel and do overnights, I get my best sleep in a hotel. Crazy huh? I also need to add that I only really work about 30 minutes to an hour a day. The rest of my day is just fluff.

Thursday, I worked almost two and a half hours...thought I was gonna die.

Just wait until you retire. Every day is and feels like Saturday. In the meantime I like the "Kicking somebody in the crotch" idea. Wish I'd thought of that myself.

Some form of moderately strenuous exercise...running, jogging or weights.

Numerous days I've been stuck with troubleshooting network or software issues and find myself in a rut, getting no where because I'm so focused on fixing it ASAP I get tunnel vision and don't consider other factors.

So I force myself to get into the gym and break the tunnel vision. It does make a difference.
