I have a burned DVD with video on it (non-copyrighted), and I wish to make a .WMV, .MOV, .RM or whatever movie out of it. How do I do this?

    I have:

    Windows Movie Maker
    Intervideo WinDVD
    Sonic RecordNOW

    Maybe other tools as well.

I've spent some time trying to figure this out, and the best way I know is to output it to an MPEG4 file using either DivX or XVid.

You can read quite a bit more about this at http://www.doom9.org/guides.htm. The easiest free tool I've found for doing this is AutoGK (Gordian Knot) at http://www.autogk.me.uk/index.php.

There have to be easier front ends, but this is the best I know of.

Everything I needed to know is at:

    Check out the forums.

I ended up getting a program called FairUse Wizard, which did everything I needed. I created DiVX .AVI files out of the contents.

I think VideoLAN Client is capable of this, as well.
