In milwaukee the loud bikes never get pulled over.. the dentists and tax accountants need to wear all the leather to show how tough they are. Then they drop the bike going over a sidewalk and call for a tow truck. Those folks are getting old.. thise bikes will be dirt cheap very soon. Indian sales are good. Harley is going down the toilet.

Not at all. The last few Harleys i owned were EFI. When I left the neighborhood I would start my scooter and idle out of the neighborhood so as not to disturb my neighbors. Good neighbor, no noise.

I have been friends with the owners of the Harley shop here in Gainesville since before they opened the store in 1993. We were talking about this one night and she said " I'm sticking with the factory, they have helped me make a lot of ****ing money"

Don't want to be wearing a helmet down here in the summer, you will pass out from the heat. Also, helmets can still twist around and snap your neck when you take a fall...but I agree, loud pipes suck.

I need to find a picture of one of my helmets from long ago. I went through the fiberglass from hitting the pavement. I walked away from the crash with bruises and soreness.

Most of the time, if you have the proper gear, you will live through it unless you get that sudden stop.

In the state I live, helmets are not required. I always wear a helmet. And road race gloves. And a kevlar jacket (sometimes leather). Even when it is 90 or 95 degrees....

Gives you time to deploy the spike strips.

I have stock exhaust on my 2016 Road Glide and it sounds okay to me. I would like to ditch the Cat though. My wife says she can feel the heat on her right foot on a long ride.

Not so fast. The independent Harley-oriented shop is a business model that is absolutely on fire this summer. HH

I wasnt talking about independent shops. Harley-Davidson Inc itself is in trouble. Its not what it use to be. New Harley sales are struggling in most areas, and have been for awhile now.

The independent shops in my area are even drying up. Not much business, many independents have closed their doors in my area. This may be quite different in your area. Seems hit-n-miss nationwide.

Guy with the thunderheader should learn how to shift, and its also running to lean when he lets off the throttle. He should take it to a real tuner shop and get it tuned right. He`s probably got the local harley shop canned tune in it.

All in all, the VH pro pipe is a great pipe. Easy to tune the baffle.
I like thunderheaders for the deeper tone, but i`m surely not a fan of their heat shields.
Bassani... all noise, no power. I`ve never seen a bassani that ever worked good on a harley.

They don't always get away with it. The ones I have written are the stupid ones that are trying to annoy people, rattle windows and just be a general nuisance.

Its an inside joke. When I was still riding I got down to Daytona for bike week fairly regularly. My buddies and I-all riders of "other brands" would repeat the line Helmet Laws save lives, loud pipes suck" in response to all of the Harley riders with stickers on their bikes and helmets _yes they had mandatory helmet laws at one time in Florida-we saw. Just good humor. Personally I never liked helmet laws. But I was damned glad I was wearing a helmet when I bounced my noggin off the pavement from the "I didn't see you" lady who pulled out in front of me.
